"Seven Seven 07" 20070707-11 Night Mediterranean Cruise

Hi Brittany,

My son Nick will be on this cruise - he will be 18 by then and is graduating in '07. He will have completed his 4th year of Italian by then, and although he doesn't know it yet, I'm counting on him being our personal translator! He won't know he is going until Christmas this year when we plan on surprising him and his brother Jake who will be 12 wen we cruise! This cruise will be part Christmas, Graduation, and our 25th Anniversary Gift/Celebration!

I see you are from New Jersey - so are we. We are in Northern NJ, near Ridgewood. Are you nearby?

I can't wait!!

Sherri

Hi Sherri,
That sounds like a great surprise. For my birthday present i am getting my license and class ring and for christmas i get to pick to do something while we are on the ship.I take Italian too, but I am not so great with it because i did more book learing then speaking so i can read most of it. I told my mom that i was going to work on it a little more so that I am able to translate for my family. Also I live in Morristown not that far away lol.
Everyone here are very excited too!!

Hi Brittany!

I can't wait to see what excursions they will offer on the ship! We have never been to Italy, and I am the only one of us who has been to Europe,
( I went with my Sophmore class in High School) to Spain, way back in the dark ages of 1977! To say I am excited is an understatement! I hope I can keep this secret until Christmas.

When we got a flyer in the mail about this cruise - both boys said we should go on it - so I think they will be very happy and excited once they find out too! We have been on 2 DCL cruises before and loved every minute of them.

You have another year to work on your Italian and really impress your parents - so keep up the good work.

Take care,
Sherri

P.S. - we are in Hawthorne - not too far from you!

Hello Sherri,
I am also looking forward to what the excursions they plan up. My mom and I have also been on other DCL cruises. This will be our 4th time. We had fun everytime, but I have to say that last years cruise was the best. I met a lot of really cool ppl and one of them (who i am talking to right now) is one of my best friends. We also see each other almost everytime i go to Disney because she lives in Florida and she is a big disney freak. I have to agree that "excited" is an understatement because there are no words to explain what I am feeling.

I don't think this will be a shore excursion, but WOW! Talk about cool.

Welcome! This is a photographic trip to the Capuchins' Catacombs located in Palermo, Italy, where there are thousands of corpses lined on the walls like paintings.

I want to see this.

This does sound cool. We will have to do this one even if it is not a DCL excursion.

we're in too! third cruise on Magic. 1st to Panama then Carribbean can't wait how many days left?

Hello again!
I was just wondering if there are any other teens going on this cruise. I am a high school student *08* and i am a very easy person to get along with. I am really excited about this trip because on the last cruise i was on i made a lot of new friends. I hope that this trip i can meet new ppl from any state or country. i hope to talk to anyone soon!
TTYL,

Hi QTPieIm ... My DD16 and I will be sailing with you in the Med... Hopefully the two of you will meet! We can't wait to go! Looking forward to Rome and Naples the most!

Hello Fellow 7-7-07 Cruisers! :wave2: My DH and I will also be onboard!

This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise. We did a 4-night cruise on the Magic in October 1998 and then another 4-night cruise on the Wonder in November 1999, both times with our children who were teenagers then. I'm not sure yet if their busy schedules will allow them to join us this time, but I hope so.

I've read that a lot of things have changed since we last cruised on DCL. For example, way back then they only offered 3- and 4-night cruises and we didn't receive a repeat cruise gift on our second cruise. I've heard that there are now different embarkation procedures, snack areas, etc. I'm eager to see what all's new. One thing's for certain, this is going to be an awesome trip! :)

Welcome aboard Deb ... This is my second Cruise, but first on Disney lines. It is all new to me, so I cannot compare things to '98. I'm looking forward to experiencing everything. If by chance I win a lottery, I would love to snag a 3/4 day before just so the ship wouldn't be so unfamiliar. I can dream can't I!

We're in too! :thumbsup2

We can't wait! Those of you going to Paris beforehand, are you taking the train to Barcelona or flying? I'm trying to work it all out and figure out the best way to save time and $$. Any suggestions?!

Thanks for the warm welcome, MJGirl! :)

I totally understand your wanting to try to get in a quick cruise to familiarize yourself with the ship before "the big trip." That's the number one reason why we're cruising Europe on DCL - because we feel so comfortable on The Magic. Even though it will have been almost 8 years since we were last on a Disney cruise, we still remember the layout, and our cabin is near where we stayed before. If you do win the lottery (and I'm hoping you do!), just know it really wouldn't matter which ship you went on since they're both built the same, basically just the decor and the names of the restaurants are different.

This cruise was an excellent compromise between my DH and myself - he's always wanted to go to Europe but I was always worried about trying to make all the air, hotel, and sightseeing arrangements. This way, we can do all the sightseeing he wants on Disney approved excursions and then we can always go back to the same "hotel" every evening! :thumbsup2 I can hardly wait! :)

Thanks for the "Good Luck" Deb.... After hanging out around these boards I feel like I know the ship already! Hi MickeyfanMom .. I hope to do Paris before the cruise as well. I've looked into both options, and the prices are pretty comparible. I was told that the only way to travel Europe is by train. I might do an overnight train to Barcelona. I've booked a room in Barcelona (through Disney) for the 6th. This should give me a chance to do some laundry. I'm going to check the web prices as the dates get closer. If I can find it cheaper on my own, I can cancel Disney, but at least I know I have a room. It's right across the street from a mall, so my daughter is extremely happy!

Hi MJ girl-

It looks like an option might be traveling overnight on the train from Paris to Barcelona. I don't know if I'll be able to sleep though- excitement and concern over being on the train! Plus my husband isn't so excited about having to drag our luggage all over Europe- at least once we get on the ship it stays put.

:goodvibes

7/7/07 can't come fast enough though! :sunny:

That's my concern too... about lugging the luggage. If we do Paris .. we will stay in one place and travel around the city from there, not too much lugging. I've heard there is a bus you can take in Paris to Disney for the day! That way only have to lug luggage once! If we do go to Paris, then I will definitely be doing laundry in Barcelona before the cruise! :teeth:

I will have to do laundry too- can you imagine the amount of stuff we are going to need to take for a trip that long? With all of the shoes to match the outfits for my daughter and I too! :teeth:

Where does Disney have you booked in Barcelona? My husband's secretary has printed off a listing for us, but it's hard to tell which are nice only by the descriptions. I would hate to get over there and find out that their idea of "luxury" accomodations isn't quite what we are used to over here. That happened to us in Mexico with a "five star" (by Mexican standards :confused3 ) hotel and we aren't too keen on repeating the experience!

It's going to be fun no matter what though!

yeah my mom is worried about that too. knowing how much clothing to pack and dresss and shoes and since i am 16 i need to have at lease 5 dresses lol

We are booked at the Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona . The hotel looks gorgeous, it opened August 2005, so it is relatively new. It is next to a large shopping mall and is 220 yards to the beach! Who could ask for anything more... My only concern is how close it is to the port? Haven't figured that out yet! Disney quoted me $295 a night, but the internet has it cheaper. As I stated earlier, I'm hoping to get a better rate as the cruise gets closer, but at least I have a room!

Thanks- that is one of the hotels on the list, so maybe that is a good sign! :)

I also wonder if I could use Hilton points- HMMMM???!!!

On an unrelated note, I was trying to copy and paste my countdown ticker on here, but it won't show it. Someone on the tech board wrote to copy and paste the HTML version from Ticker Factory, but that won't work. I think it is because HTML is turned off at the bottom of my CP and I can't get it to change.

Do you remember what you did to get your ticker on there?

I created it and posted it in my signature! I will pm you the code!
