The Seven Seas Lagoon will be drained or dredged the week of September 26th for one to two weeks. They are notifying those with weddings that they will not be able to use the Wedding Pavilion due to the noise and unsightly conditions. If it is only being dredged and not drained, can boat operations continue?

It was first reported here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2789617 and then on the Grand Floridian thread.

A Disney Wedding Planner told a DISer this morning that it seems that the Lagoon is actually being dredged and not drained (though there is some confusion about this) and it is the construction noise that they feel would disrupt the weddings and that is why Disney has told them they must change their venue. One bride was offered the top of BLT as an alternative.

This must be directly related to the GF DVC construction. The boundary for the project extends into the Lagoon between the beach near the pool and the beach near the Wedding Pavilion.

Drained...highly, as in almost ZERO chance of that happening. Dredging, putting footings in and adjusting the shoreline is the more obvious situation.

It would be very hard to believe that the entire Seven Seas Lagoon would be drained. Just thinking of the logistics of that is staggering. The amount of water that would have to be removed is incredible plus it would eliminate boat transportation to the different resorts & MK parking. They would have to erect cofferdams between it and Bay Lake, plus the canal between the MK and the GF . No way would they do all that simply to prepare a new construction site.

they could just be walling off (temp barriers) and draining a small part for building footings, etc

I heard someone lost their sunglasses off of a pontoon boat last week so they were trying to make a magical moment by draining and recovering them for the guest.

I doubt that any of the wedding planning CMs know of construction techniques.

I wouldn't be surprised if they dredge and drain the lagoon at the constuction site. Which would mean dredging and draining of the Seven Seas Lagoon but not the whole thing.

I guess this says they are starting on the new DVC.
The DVC construction actually started last month. There are walls up near the spa/health club. The spa is being closed for the next 18 months and the walkway from/to the Poly has been closed-off.

i would like to reaffirm the "obvious DVC construction" opinion.

At this point...its almost beyond obvious.

Anyone else notice that - if correct - that Boca Chica and Big Pine Key would block the coveted "Magic kingdom fibercastle views" on much of the proposed structure?

And i have no doubt that this thing is in fact happening and where the filings put it at on the map.

They were dead on with BLT and i thought that was far more far fetched.

They will replace the view with a cardboard cut out of the castle.

I'm pretty sure hey're dredging, putting up temp barriers, and then draining a small section of the lagoon near the GF (for the proposed construction of "DVC which will not be named: The sequel).

Boat service shouldn't be effected...they're planning on that boat service to take over for the monorails post 10:30 on MNSSHP nights.

Well...I for one can't wait to be COMPLETELY surprised when the announcement comes next month...

Wishes! Magic! Dreams! Wonder! TIMESHARES!
