I am hoping to book Hawaii at seven months for next July. I have enough points that I can be flexible with the view and room size - what are my chances?
Hard to predict, there are so many variables with a new resort. One of the biggest questions is just how well is the resort selling? The reason for that question is this, if it is selling well, then more and more rooms will be declared in the DVC Condo association and will become available to members. If it is not selling well, then that means less rooms available at any time, as members can not reserve rooms with points until those rooms are formally a part of DVC.
For instance, if Aualani has only sold 15% of the points that will ultimately be available, then only 15% of the villa rooms will be available for point reservations, the other 85% would still be owned by Disney/DVD and would be available for cash or promotions, or however they wish to use them. Then add the monkey wrench of the set-week ownerships that are available at Aulani.
I had no problem at 7 months for aulani, reserved a 2BD, and all views were open from me to pick from at that time. I went in May and you want July which I believe would be more crowded. Hard to predict but I would say your chances were good.
I am also hoping for a July trip to Aulani - so hard to wait to find out if there will be available rooms.. fingers crossed with some pixie dust for us!
I was able to book at the 7 month mark with a 1bd standard view. Woke up early and called right at 9; I was told they had just a few openings 24 days to go now!!! I seriously can not wait Best of luck to you.
btw: August is WONDERFUL to go to Hawaii! weather is great and the water is fantastic! enjoy!!
Our anniversary is in August as well. However.....I always save Hawaii trips for the dead of winter. It's so nice to get warmed up and see flowers when all around here is bleak and white. This will be the second time we have celebrated an anniversary in Hawaii (4th trip total), and neither time have we gone in August when we actually celebrate our anniversary.
