If you want to know how the DVC points work, just let me know and I'll try to help. I think your brother is telling you the BUY IN price - YOU WILL NOT or rather should not BUY IN for just ONE stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and NO you can't buy in as a first time buyer for any amount less than 50 (at least that's what it was when we bought our 2nd contract, our first one was not less than 160) - your best bet for doing a DVC stay is to RENT pts. from an owner - but, you'd need to figure out your dates FIRST, then decide what size of accomdations you'd need, that will determine the amount of pts. you need - as different dates/accomodations DO change the amount you'd need. Again, if you need help - ask away!!!

for example, the first weekend we're going, (May 18) a studio at Kidani is something like 13 or 17 pts. a night - so, if you RENTED those pts. at say $10 a pt. - it would be $130 dollars a night - and so on.

Hi Everybody! Just switched our reservations from Ft Wilderness cabins to AKL. We are going in August with free dining and we are sooo excited to stay here! This our first time in a deluxe! I can't wait to read thru this thread and learn as much as I can about this gorgeous resort!!

On another note.............. was perusing the design thread and read about another designer having issues with people STEALING designs and sellinging them as thier own............. which is bad enough, but, we are NOT allowed to SELL any designs we make per Disney copyright laws.......... she advised we ALL google our names............... so, I did and guess what - YEP, some jackwhack STOLE MY WORK and is selling it................... I'm SO offended and mad - I did send them a nasty little note, but, other than that, I really have no recourse.......... it's just beyond imagination that there are people like that - I wish my Jambo wildbunch and I could go "fix" her little wagon..............................

So, I think this has made the decision for me, I was on the fence about coming back and designing again........... now, I know for sure I'm not. I'm NOT going to put all the time and effort into it - to have this happen. However, if any of my Jambo friends ever want anything, please don't hesitate to ask!!!

Yeah, all I can figure is that he's telling you the price at what he BOUGHT INTO DVC at - that is DIFFERENT than how many pts. you'd need for each individual stay.

UNLESS you plan on BUYING INTO DVC - then you'd need to RENT pts. for EACH night of your entire stay. Again, depending on WHEN you want to go and WHERE you want to stay and WHAT size/type accomadations you want - will determine how many pts. you need.

I'll try to find a pts. chart and post it for you - that way you can get a better idea of what I'm trying to explain............

Kim, Wendy gave you some great advice. I would rent points to my friends for $10pp, I've seen people asking as much as $16pp. I have 203 points in holding because we canceled one day in advance. That means I can only book trips 60 days in advance with those points.

I booked two nights at DLR for the opening day of Carsland. That used 97 points. We're thinking about going back in July but I can't book that for another couple weeks.

Kim if you wanted to plan a spontaneous trip (less than 60 days out), I'd rent you points and certainly not at $99pp. Remember he gets to use them for another 30-40 years at that price.

Just wanted to say that if you ever get to the point where you think you might lose the points let me know and I'd rent them thru you. Since my kids are both in SO CA I'm always looking for excuses to come down there. I usually only rent a studio. My DH and I are both retired so are very flexible on days, etc.

The problem is that the Villas are booked SOLID. I'm even waitlising a night for during the D23 event in August. I had to trade out for a park view room at the PP Hotel for the Carsland thing. We might book 2 rooms for two nights later this summer and take our grind from Tulare that we were taking on this trip.
