We're going the last week in Sept. and staying at AKL for the 1st time (hence my ticker below ) Anyway, we definitely couldn't afford anything but the standard room, but what are the odds of us getting upgraded??? It is our 15th Anniversary after all
I've read of other people getting there before check-in time (like we will), dropping off their bags and when they come back later that night they find that they've been upgraded!

So...what do you think our odds are, and is there anything we can do to up our odds of this happening??? LOL

Stranger things have happened! I think it really is just random mix of availability and a kind CM! The one time we walked to the room we were given in FQ and were unhappy with the location they upgraded us to riverview for free (although it was a little bit of a further walk). We have also been upgraded in Disneyland when we stayed there for just one night. I've heard its easier to get if you are staying a shorter period of time, but having your anniversary noted can't hurt either!

I have been away for the last 2-3 days, so I am trying to catch up with you all.

It is too bad you could not take advantage of one of the Top Ten Wine Destinations in the world, Kathy. We have been fortunate enough to travel hither and yon to visit quite a few of them. All in the name of research, you know...

I laughed out loud when I read this. I have several research projects going on during this year. I have to admit I have not been up to your wine region...but plan to in the next couple of years.

Ann - I am jealous that you are close enough to go to Napa. We have been to Paso Robles and the Central Coast area but did not have enough time to get up to Sonoma/Napa. It is on our bucket list and I would love to take both our daughters for a Ladies' Trip.

Napa is our favorite place for a wine tasting trip after Europe. The whole area just fills your every sence. The rolling hills where you can see for miles and miles, the smell of grapes in the air and flowers. There always seem to be a lot of flowers in bloom when we visit. The slower pace of the people and they are so friendly. I admit we don't go during their heavy summer season.

We may just have to plan a few days this year before Food and Wine at Epcot. You know just to make sure we are in shape for the festival.

Dr. was an ok visit.... Tennis shoes thru the end of the month...

Tennis shoes are perfect for Vegas. There is a lot of walking in that town. You will be in perfect style. Plus, I have never seen a picture of you looking anything less than great! Have fun Brandi and don't overdue.

AKL Question:

It's been almost two years since I have stayed at AKL CL and I'm wondering if someone can tell me if there have been any changes to the Lodge or the CL in that time...

The only thing I can think of that has changed is neither your family or mine has been there in the last two years. But we are all going this year!

From what I hear the lodge is as beautiful as ever, the food offerings are as great as ever. I even read that someone saw zebra domes offered during the evening sweets and alcohol dessert time.

A friend just got back from AKL and they were denied entrance into Samawati Springs Pool because they were not staying at Kidani.

I thought you were allowed to use that pool If you were staying at AKL?

Any thoughts on this? We are booked there in July .
