Their only hope of a short wait is RD and closer to the end of the night..................during the parade or fireworks may work also. If they have MDE they could try to look every day up until the moment they get in line for an open FP, highly unlikely but you hear stories about it happening Unfortunately early August can be a busy time because its just before folks head back to school............. I'd push RD for the best shot........and they may still wait a bit even with that.

Thanks for all your perspectives!! My friends were reluctant to get there for 9am (realistically 9:15am) so any earlier isn't a possibility. They've never been to WDW before, so I know they won't separate. I'm watching for FP cancellations religiously, so hopefully I'll find something. It's not an EMH night, so it will close at 12am. I'll tell them about possibly doing SDMT close to closing, but if they're there at 9am, I doubt they'll stay until midnight! Fingers crossed I can find them a FP (party of 6). Thanks again for all your feedback!

It is a super fun way to end the night! I think it's our go to way to close MK down now. It's only about a 90 sec ride so don't wait more than a half hr no matter.

On Monday we waited about 40 minutes in the hour after an 8:00 opening. We hit Anna & Elsa, Rapunzal & Cinderella, and the Mine Train in just about an hour!
