Seven Dwarfs Mine Train vs. Great Adventure Runaway Mine Train

This is a long-shot question. Has anyone been on the Six Flags Great Adventure "Runaway Mine Train" in New Jersey? I'd like to know how that ride compares to the 7DMT.

My son is very hesitant about riding the 7DMT. Given everything I've read about it (the scenery, animatronics, etc.) I think he would really enjoy it and I'd hate for him to miss out on the experience (especially since we've already secured fast passes for it). Neither of us like coasters (especially drops - I am terrified of drops). He has ridden the Runaway Mine Train ride at Six Flags several times and enjoyed it (or at least pretended to enjoy it). I am hoping that 7DMT won't be any worse than six flags.

I would say that Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is tamer than Runaway Min Train. I think Runaway is closer to Big Thunder Mountain.

I would agree, I would compare Runaway to BTMRR. What other rides has your son enjoyed at Six Flags?

i agree, Run Away Mine Train is very similar to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
7DMT is much smoother and the drops are very small. More of a hill than a drop.
Have you thought about watching youtube POV video's. That could give you a visual of what they are both like. Hopefully I can post them here. Moderator, please remove and accept my apologies if these aren't allowed.

Thank you. He's never been on Big Thunder or Splash Mountain at Disney. At Great Adventure, he likes the slow dropping parachute ride (so he's not afraid of heights); he also likes the pirate ship (Buccaneer); bumper cars. He also likes waterslides (moderate ones with shallow water).

My daughter who is terrified of roller coasters loved 7DMT. I rode it first then convinced her to try. She was scared the first time, but then rode it 4 times after that. It does not have big drops and is very smooth.

I have tried to show the video. He was generally disinterested but will try again.

Based on what I'm hearing, if he can do runaway train, he can do 7DMT. This may be a case of "mother knows best". I just hate to "force him"

And to be sure, I'm comparing it to runaway train at 6 Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey. I'm not sure if it's the same as the one in Texas.

7DMT is a whole lot tamer than both Great Adventure Runaway Train and BTMR. I've been on the Great Adventure one. 7DMT is probably the smoothest ride I've been on. It is a lot of fun, just wish it were longer.

I have an 8 year old I finally got on the runaway train this year. He wasn't real eager to go on again. He went on Seven Dwarfs almost 2 years ago and had no problem.

NJ here !! i can barley do roller coasters and when we do go to Great Adventure that's one of the few i can handle. Seven Dwarfs wont be a problem and its def not worst then great Adventure

Thank you for posting that video! That ride looks totally awesome!

Having watched it, I'm definitely going to try for Fastpasses with that 60 day thing.

I would suggest bribery.;) When DD was younger, the promise of a Mickey Head Ice Cream Bar, Popsicle, or some little trinket she had her eye on did wonders on getting her to try rides.

I see a win win opportunity in my future. Thanks!
