13th April - Rumoured date for Cast Member training to start.
20th April - Rumoured date for Cast Member training final assessment
30th April to 2nd May - Preview Event.
2nd May 10:15 - Dedication

My current thoughts are that soft openings might begin on 20th or 21st April and the ride may be fully open on 2nd or 3rd May.

Might just be wishful thinking on my part seeing as we'll be there frmo 1st-15th May

We are going to be there 4/27-5/4 with a MK day on 5/2. To add to my obsession to ride the SDMT we just measured my youngest and he finally hit 38"! There is only one other roller coaster he can ride so this would be great!

It's funny b/c I think I will be more bummed than him if he can't ride it.

We fly in on the 15th and should get to the resort by 5:30ish. We just planned on pool time and early bed, but if I can get a FP for that night we are heading there for sure. We are trading up to AP's so we can do it. I am so excited and super nerves about trying to get FP for the days that we are there. I have a bad feeling about a MDE crash that day. I hope I am wrong, but I remember when BOG opened and what a headache that was

Official word: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train dedication on May 2 will be for invited media only. Area will be blocked off for the short ceremony. So don't go to the park that day and expect to see it... just wait for our video shortly thereafter!

Also, Disney is sticking to calling this a "dedication" and not a "grand opening" so it's not clear if the ride will be officially open after that.

My friends and I have been speculating that Disney was doing their best to get this up and running for May 23rd since they announced the 24 hour day at MK (and we promptly began planning our trip). The updates in this thread are definitely getting me more and more excited for our prospects!

The wife and i are leaving the kids @ home and going May 21-25 for the 24h party.Really hoping it is in full swing by then.

Us too!!! Although, the thought of changing around my FP+s in order to fit in 7DMT is overwhelming to me if it should happen to be open!!

Disney has been inviting me to come enjoy the new SDMT spring of 2014 for some time now. I took them up on their offer and booked my late spring trip for May 10-15. Here's hoping spring 2014 means some date soon. I would think that if a ride is suitable for media to partake then it's safe to assume the general public should be riding soon after. I can't imagine disney using the media as a safety test group and then having to shut down the place to fix all the problems they discover after the media test.
