I wanted to write and thank everyone on this site for all of the helpful information that made our trip wonderful!
Arrived 2/22
Departed 2/28
Me (mom) 38
Dad - 43
son 1 - 10
son 2 - 8
We arrived in Florida at 11:00am, Happy Limo picked us up in a white stretch (we ordered a sedan) What a surprise! We had decided not to rent a car and it was a great idea.
Arrived at HRH and was told they could not give me an upgrade because they were booked ( no big deal). I did request a room near the elevator and received 3072. It was just down the hall from the lobby and incredibly convenient. Our room was not ready, which I expected, so we grabbed our suits and went to the fitness center to change. It was very nice there and felt comfortable leaving everything in a locker (our bags were held by the bell boys). The kids enjoyed the pool all day, while we soaked up the warm weather (it was sunny and 80, the best of all the days we were there! We ordered chicken nachos and cheeseburgers from the Beach Club and everything was great.
We finally went back to the front desk at 4:00 and room was still not ready! I complained and they got it ready in 15 minutes. I had a package sent to the hotel to arrive 2 days prior to our arrival and they told me at the front desk that there was no package (she even called receiving). After unpacking, I realized that the package had to have arrived because I sent it UPS 2nd day service 5 days prior. I called Star service and after a few hours, they finally found the box and delivered it to the room. This was great because I forgot to make my grocery stop on the way to the hotel and this box had tons of snacks in it.
We spent the next five days going to both parks and enduring the one day of downpour rain and one day of freezing cold. The way we looked at it was at least the cold day wasn't raining! We had brought emergency ponchos and they were not durable enough, so we broke down and bought the blue Universal ones. We did all the water rides on that day which worked out perfect because we were already soaked. I did laundry the next day and tried to get all of our gym shoes dry to go to the parks. (that was not easy, as the shoes kept opening up the dryer door!) I had to hold the dryer door shut for 40 minutes.
The crowds were just right and everyone was so right about the FOTL. It is incredible and would never go again without it. We rode on every ride at both parks with no wait! We did Spiderman 15 times throughout the week and also: MIB 10x, Hulk 12x, Jimmy Nuetron 12x, and Shrek 10x. My kids were in heaven
I am not a rollercoaster rider and had a weak moment and agreed to try the Hulk. I absolutely loved it and could not stop riding it. We all enjoyed every ride there.
We ate at Nascar Cafe, Pastamore, Hard Rock Cafe, and Margartaville. They were all very good and did not have any complaints. We also did Breakfast buffet at the Kitchen one morning which was fabulous. On the last day, we decided to do bagels and juice from the little store and couldn't believe we paid $3.00 for a bagel! We should have just gone back to the buffet!
Our last day was beautiful and we checked out early (they held our bags) we went to the pool and read, played volleyball, napped, ate by the pool. We showered in the fitness center and went up to the lobby where our car was waiting to take us to the airport.
It was really an unbelievable vacation. We had the best of everyting. (the weather could have been a little better) We felt like the HRH really treated us well. We would love to try the club level next time, but not sure it is worth the money.
Since we have been back, we have raved to all of our friends that staying at the HRH and going to Universal is the only way to enjoy the theme parks! I wouldn't do it any other way. I am almost regretting not upgrading our passes to the Power Pass. It would have been an extra $16.00 per pass. We just couldn't think of a time when we would be able to get back down there in the next twelve months.
Again, thank you for all of the valuable information that is provided on this site. You truly are a service to many families!
