Monday June 11
Again we got up early, but this time I had no problem snoozing. Breakfast was brief and we jumped on a bus and headed to the Animal Kingdom. There was quite the crowed and we had to wait in the heat, at 8:20 am! We had gotten in the Cast members line and didnt know it until a cast member in the line told everyone. Many got out of line but I went and asked, we could go through the line. So they let us in early, about 8:45 and we immediately went to the Safari ride. This time we had to wait a little bit, but it was a nice safari. Didnt see any giraffes, bummer. But we did see both the lion and the lionesses and some hippos and elephants. After the safari we got fastpasses for another ride and went to Dinoland. I road the roller coaster twice, its a mouse type that also spins your car around. Think the Teacups on a roller coaster track. Then we went to Asia to see the tigers. Saw three very tired females. The Jungle Trek was nice and walking through the ruins was nice, but it was very hot. We walked past a chicken shop I had hoped to eat lunch at but it wasnt what I thought, I thought they had chicken satay. No such luck. So we went back over to the safari; our fastpasses were up, however we decided we were too tired and hot to do it. So we went to the Tusker House to sit in the air and maybe eat but nothing looked good. We were just too hot to eat anything heavy. Seth and I walked to the Flaming Tree BBQ but as beautiful as the eating area was it wasnt air-conditioned. We decided to go back to the hotel, and we walked through the Tree of Life area and looked at the animals carved on the tree as well as listened to the music. The spray from the waterfall felt so good. We bought a smoothie for the road but it had banana in it. We were lucky, a bus was waiting for us and we were able to get right back to the hotel. We stopped in the food court and Seth got a sandwich and I got a grilled chicken sandwich. It was very good and it had fries with it! I could even eat a few! Yum. Except for the sushi I had last time, which they dont have anymore, this was the 1st really good thing Id had from our food court. Getting back to the room felt really nice and the pool felt even nicer. We should have slept but after being so hot at the AK we wanted to swim badly.
For the evening we went to MGM. Of course, wouldnt you know it, it started to pour right as we got there. We ran into a store and that connected to another store, and we were able to spend a lot of time inside. Eventually it became just sprinkles so we went to Rockin Roller Coaster and I got a fastpass. Then we wandered around, went by the big Sorcerer Mickey hat, ABC Commissary, Star Tours, and just around. Shopped some more, and then decided it was close enough to our ressies at the Brown Derby to go in. Sitting down felt so good! The inside of the BD was neat, very open and lots of noiseBut we had good service and good food. I got half a roasted chicken on a sweet potato with a whisky sauce and Seth got grouper on top of seasoned asparagus with sweet onions. We also had dessert, Seth had strawberry rhubarb pie and I had the famous Grapefruit cake. Seth liked his but mine was just OK. It was mostly white cake with icing that tasted like cheesecake, which I dont like. But the fresh grapefruit slices with it were wonderful.
After dinner I had to go immediately to the Rockin Roller Coaster! I just knew I was going to throw up. I got a fastpass for the Tower of Terror first. Fastpass is so wonderful I just walked on in to the preshow. I also found the hidden Mickey in the guitar cord. As you go to the boarding area you are behind a chain link fence. Everyone is pressed up against it to watch the cars take off. Its fun to hear the squealing of the tires and the peoples screams. I didnt throw up! It was incredible! It really leaves you breathless. I saw this time the Thai Taco and the big doughnut. I also realized you go upside-down 3 times. Seth was waiting for me at the exit. We sat a moment and my fastpass for ToT was up so I went there and got the seatbelt seat. That has got to be the best seat. Our elevator went up many times and I got totally airborne. After RRC it was almost bland though.
Seth and I headed back to the Big Hat and watched the preshow for Muppets, but it took to long and we needed to be at the meeting place to get in to Fantasmic! by 8:30, so we left and walked over. We went backstage and took our seats on the far right of the theater. Not bad really. Fantasmic was OK, most of the effects worked, we got to see Epcots fireworks too, and it was nice to see the characters. I love the end when he disappears/appears and says Some imagination, huh?
MGM was now closed and everyone was leaving so we walked to the Big Hat and took pictures. We got a slushy that was refreshing and enjoyed the night. When we left our bus was waiting for us to take us home.
