Service isn't so "Magical" right now...

While we are talking about rebooking and booking cruises....does anyone know if I can change the room they assigned to me? I sat for 1.5hrs waiting to rebook, which is not acceptable to me....the ONE person that was doing it seen me looking at my watch when I booked I knew exactly what I wanted booked put the downpayment but he was taking soooooo long, he finally said you are all done I will deliver the paperwork to your room. I didnt get it til the next morning when we were leaving only by chance I went back to the room and it was there. Anyway, I put it in my purse and forgot about it. When I checked my emails Monday I had confirmation from them, I noticed they already assigned me a room. So I tried to call to ask about it but was on hold for half an hour and had to go do school pick up. So cant call til tomorrow as it is a surprise for the kids and dont want them to hear me talking. So thought I would come here and ask....:confused3:lovestruc:worship:

Wasn't that rebooking line ridiculous? I gave him my info on Monday, called three times, finally received a quote on Thursday for the wrong room types on the wrong cruise!! So in spite of trying to do this early in the cruise, I still had to sit in that line for 1.5 hours!!! :lmao:

Yes it was, one man was there 6 times that day!!! They need more people doing it. Some people are up there for 1/2 an hour checking out all different cruises. I just wanted to book, I knew what I wanted, he was so slow, I was still in my bathing suit and had to shower to go to the show and then dinner, again I had no idea they gave you a room, I dont want the room I got, so want to change, this could cause me to cancel.

I know. I felt like going around to everyone in line ahead of me and helping them decide so they would hurry along!! Even when you knew what you wanted, Randy (the cruise sales guy) just kept insisting on going over and over and over things. I was like Randy - just give me two CAT9bs on this date!!!!

Here's a lesson I learned. On our Aug cruise, I waited for Tai, the re-booking agent on the Wonder. And waited. And waited. So this time (off the Magic jan 3-8), when we were at PC, DH pulled out the iPhone and went to DCL.com, checked the cruise we wanted (June 16, 2012) and checked to see if the room (9674, Cat 6A) was avail. It was, so after dinner, we filled out 2 cards at the booking desk for that cruise, and our dummy cruise. We put all the details - that we wanted main dining, 9pm show, the room we wanted, the age of our daughter in 2012, our TA's name - everything. The next day, we got the quote cards back, and I immediately called to have her charge the deposit. Next day, paperwork left above my fish outside my stateroom door. Easiest thing I have done with regards to booking a cruise. I hope I never have to wait in that line again!

Bottom line, if you know what you want, fill out the card - they must work on those when they are not stationed at the desk. It is super easy. Everything else can be taken care of on voice mail (i.e., not happy with room, etc.) Super super easy.

Extra bonus, I won the $100 OBC for re-booking

Sounds like a plan to me....again never even mentioned the OBC...I will have to ask about that tomorrow when I call back.

See we did that and he got all the stuff still mixed up twice and we had to sit and talk to him to straighten out the dates. The lady two years ago was so much better.

Let me clarify, I WON $100 OBC - on the Navigator, it usually says that if you book by XX day at XX time, you are eligible to win $100 OBC that can be used on the cruise you are on.

I spelled the stuff out as if a 10 year old was planning the cruise - really. But, for us, it's easy - no insurance, transfers, or air. I gave them every last detail. The chick that did it on the Magic Jan 3-8 2011 was Leslie. I was so impressed, I called and left her 2 voice mails thanking her.

I did the card on Monday too and it was totally messed up. He quoted me the wrong rooms on the wrong ship on the wrong date.

Apparently it is another new person doing it now because on the cruise last week it was a guy named Randy. I knew going on board what I wanted to book and flagged him down on Monday and talked to him about it. He still got it completely wrong!

Yes, you can change your room and keep your 10% OB discount and OBC's. You will have to pay the price for that new room on the date you make the change so if the price changed, or you move to a higher category room, you will have to pay more.

:rotfl2:

We have reached a new low folks.... Now it's OK for Disney to not provide hot water.

And it's "ok" for service to be hit or miss

And so on..

Really?

So if this same review was for another cruise line would it still be OK or would there be outrage followed by the "DCL is wonderful"posts??? :rotfl2:

(And if Carnival provides hot water that $172 extra just might be worth it IMHO. If they can get my meal too me in a reasonable time it's definetly worth it! LOL! I am willing to pay for service but I don't think it should be "hit or miss" and "well it's ok if they miss sometimes"

And as the poster points out she/he is NOT comparing apples and oranges. Right now Disney is charging $3,000 MORE for thier cruise... where it's "ok not to provide service" :confused3 )

As you're trying to mince my words and say something that was never intended by me, I would like to clarify that I was simply trying to point out to book early to save money and that DCL doesn't always have to cost more than other cruise lines if you watch carefully.

There seems to be this perception that DCL always costs a lot more than other cruises and that's not the case. I would love for someone to find a 7-night Eastern cruise for our family of 5 in June 2012 for less than $5,000 with one balcony room across the hall from an inside room. So far neither RCCL or Carnival can match it with their newer ships. I've priced DCL against the Oasis for 4 separate cruises that we've looked into and each time, the Oasis was more than DCL. Granted, I've seen others post the opposite, but I don't know if they were comparing an inside room to a balcony or what. In our case, I always compare similar rooms (oceanview balcony to oceanview balcony).

And we've never had anything but great service on DCL in the past. I don't think that the "hit or miss" service on these cruises is acceptable (unless you're on the MV cruise itself) and would complain about any poor service as I have done in the past on DCL and it's been fixed accordingly.

Further, why try to extrapolate 45 minutes of missed hot water on one cruise to implying that it's not okay to have hot water on any DCL cruises? If we're going to extrapolate one cruise to an entire cruiseline - there's just one word to use for Carnival - Splendor. :rolleyes1 Personally, I look at it as these as isolated incidents (both the Splendor and the hot water outage).

That is us too we knew the room everything. But like Dena said we had Randy this time not Leslie. We remember her too.

Oh I got an OBC $200. I think, but he never said, it said on my conf.

Why is the hit or miss ok on the MV? Was it a discounted cruise??

No wait, they charged MORE for that.. :confused3:

It's not really ok but anyone going on a MV of any cruise ship had best do so with the understanding that there will be hiccups. It is absolutely, positively 100% impossible to have a perfect MV...there is just too much opportunity for little, and yes sometimes big, issues especially on a brand new class of vessel.

Is it acceptable? Depends on your tolerance. In the event of major problems, the cruise line could certainly consider some kind of OBC but to expect more is not wise.

People pay the premium not because they are expecting perfection, or if they are they are sorely mistaken, but for the right to say "I was on the MV of the SS Whatever."

Yeah, that is the OBC for the next cruise that you booked. We also got that :thumbsup2

I was lucky enough to win the $100 OBC that I got to use on the cruise I was on Jan 3-8.

Lucky you...:thumbsup2 That would have paid my whole bill...acutally I would have had .83 balance.....:lmao:

The two people who were on the Magic for the 1/8/11 cruise did not know what they were doing. They gave me a quote for the Fantasy MV that I requested the first night in the request box [which we always do to avoid the line] but did not answer my question regarding the OBC. Later in the week they were both there and I asked them if there was any benefit at all to my booking the MV on the ship...no discount, no OBC. They said none at all for MV cruises. Thank goodness I had a future cruise that I could transfer to that once I got home because as I suspected they were wrong about the OBC.

Also, the guy seemed to have no idea what a line was about. I was the second person waiting in the chairs by the desk and he was helping another person. As that person was getting up to leave another one came around the corner from the elevators and started asking him a question and actually sat down and he was helping him. I said excuse me but the rest of us are sitting here waiting and don't appreciate you not addressing us in the order we have been waiting. He got all flustered like he had no idea why there were people next to the desk watching his every move waiting for him to finish the drawn out process of selecting a stateroom. The person got up and walked towards the end of the line.

It must just be our family, but we've always had 2 hour dinners onboard and would never expect dinner to last just an hour. What is the case for others?

Our dinners have always lasted about 2 hours also, both on main and late dining.

Same here but with just the four of us it was a bit quicker. We usually cruise with friends and it never seems like 2 hours with the great company though. We started cruising when the kids were 3 & 5.

Wow, I thought I was the only one. I filled out the card asking for the Western Caribbean in a cat. 12 and they sent me a confirmation for a Mexican Riveria in a cat 6. Yikes.
