Servers????

Does anyone know if servers switch ships? Has anyone seen Gede from Indonesia, Jacqualine from New Zealand and Ivan. I think from Russia. They were fabulous, especially Gede! I would request them again if its not too much trouble. Or should we experience a new server- what do you think?

I'm not sure if the servers change ships or if you can request a server. I personally would like to experience a new server each time I cruise, just to change things up a bit.

We were on the Wonder last summer and loved our main server Eric. He treated our DD9 and DD6 wonderfully. It was his first cruise on his current contract. We re-booked while on ship for Jan and figured Eric would still be on the ship. We wondered if we should request him. Well, we decided not to and low and behold Eric had gotten a promotion to be a head guy (don't know what they call them) and he was on our rotation. We were treated like kings and queens and my girls got extra special treatment. I knew he really did remember us, because of the the thinks he remembered. I thought that was really great, considering how many people he meets! The servers truly are WONDERful!!

Servers do switch ships occasionally. We had met a server named Beatrice from France on the Magic, and she transferred over and opened the Wonder. We know several other servers, both in the main diningrooms and in Palo, who have made the switch. Most did the switch when the Wonder was brought online, but some just switched over for the heck of it.

A competent server can make your cruise unforgettable. Wait... So can an inept server!

I, personally, would request the same server but that's just my preference for familiarity. Heck, I tried to find a rotary-dial cell phone...

We noticed on our 3 day a couple of years ago that our servers explained everthing in detail every evening before dinner. It was wonderful. On our recent 7 day we had to ask what certain dishes were. We had better service on our 3 day. Our servers on our 7 day were great but we really liked the added extras that our 3 day servers gave us.

I would go through hell's fire to get Roger C. from Brazil as my server again, and his assistant Erwin from St. Vincent. Both were excellent, friendly yet professional.

I've had others that were very good, but none can compare to these two.

I've tried several ways, but the way that others have been successful (not me!) was to ask for that particular person during the embarkation time at "Dining Room Changes".

It's always worth a shot to get one of the better servers and I guess that is a very subjective matter because I don't like being constantly talked to or hovered over. These servers were there when they were needed and only talked as much as the table seemed to want conversation.

I'd adopt Roger in a heartbeat! And I am definitely old enough to be his mother!!!!!

When we sailed this past January on the Magic we had the best servers ever out of our 7 DCL cruises.....they were Girish from India and Beckie from Canada (asst. server). They were awesome, especially Beckie. Unfortunately she won't be onboard when we sail again in May...she will be on vacation.

We had Jacqualine from New Zealand on our wonder 4 day 3/23 cruise. She's leaving in 6 weeks for good to go back home. She really misses home, she's been away for 7 years. She and Kerry were wonderful!

Has he gone over to the Wonder yet? I know he wants to, but since I sail on 5/3 - I pray that he is still on the Magic because he's our favorite!!

I'm hoping he's still on the Magic in May for you. I know his contract is up in May and its vacation time. But I can't remember exactly when. I'm waiting for e-mail addresses from my group and I will let you know as soon as I get them.
