Do you have a favorite server at any of these restaurants? I'd love to hear why, as well.

TIA!

California Grill
Jiko
Artist Point
Brown Derby
Flying Fish
Citricos

Please feel free to recommend servers that you like...but as the servers cannot defend themselves, it's usually asked on the DIS that you not use their names if you are going to nominate them for "worst."

I'm cool with that! I changed the title to represent more of a feeling of who folk want (and don't) rather than who is 'good' or 'worst'

It's quite difficult for you to determine which servers to "avoid." When they walk up to your table and you see their name tag, I'd assume asking for a different server might get awkward.

The mods have discussed this in the past and we were just not comfortable with naming Disney CMs in that fashion, as the persons themselves have no way of knowing what's been said about them. But it's certainly doable to request a favorite or recommended server, if they're on duty when you get there.

No matter what, everyone has a bad day. A server could have had a bad day because of some of the people's attitudes that they had to wait on or something happened at home or whatever. It doesn't really seem very fair to put them on an "avoid list". Disney doesn't make a "guests we should avoid letting into our Parks" list. (but perhaps maybe they should !) :rolleyes1

Think about your job....would you want someone putting you on a banned list? :confused3 not me.

or what about the restaurants that have more then one Katie or Lindas...

I see this as wrong and I hope that no one would do this:confused3

i only opened this thread because i saw it was a bizarre request via the title and was very very curious to see how/what others would respond... i guess i got my answer... no one actually responded to the question (yet)!

we have never had a server who i remember by name that i would say "no way" to... however, we have had two servers that stand out over the years and i would not hesitate to request them if i were to dine there again... Neil at Tusker House, we sat at his table by chance two years in a row and he remembered us from the previous year, and the third year we did not get him as our server but when he saw us across the room he made a point of saying "hi!"... the other stand-out is Jannette at the Plaza, she just went above and beyond and made it one of our family's most favorite meals in the World *ever!*

but, since neither of those are on your list, i would say go w/the luck of the draw! it's rare that you will find a "worst" or even inexperienced server at one of the top WDW restaurants... so you should be safe!

Enjoy :flower:

I edited the thread to only include positive reviews about Servers.

Thanks for the info on the Plaza. We might do lunch there.

We had the best server ever last year at CA Grill. I just asked DD what his name was because for months after we got back she talked about him. We decided we think his name was Randall maybe? Something like that.

Anyway, he was great. Wonderful friendly personality. He recommended some great wines for us and when our daughter went to order and couldn't decide between steak or mac -n-cheese he said leave it to him, and ended up bringing her both. (We were not charged for both)

After he brought our food, he cut DD's steak up for her, which she thought was just the nicest thing ever.

During conversation it came up that we had a horrible server there the year before. We had been celebrating our anniversary (it was supposed to be noted on the reservation) but the server never acknowledged it at all. He was just bad in general throughout the whole meal though.

When it came time for dessert, Randall brought us each a glass of champagne and some kind of dessert with the little congratulations chocolate piece Disney puts on stuff. It was so nice. We had ordered our own desserts as well and were only charged for what we ordered.

He was just great all around and DH said we are going to request him this year if possible.

At Citricos in May for our anniv. we had Wade and he was awesome. Attentive and fun.

Once we had unbelievably hostile service at Tutto. The next year when I returned to Tutto for an ADR for 11 (four families) I mentioned to the hostess that if server X was working to please NOT seat us in his area. She gave us a very sweet server. When I have been burned by rude service, I have no problem at all making sure it doesn't happen twice.

While I do think that there are some servers who are excellent at their jobs (one in particular has already been mentioned in this thread), I don't really see the point of requesting specific servers. Excellent service is common in the signature restaurants. Poor service is not. A restaurant runs more smoothly on the whole when parties allow themselves to be seated in whichever section the host puts them.

:thumbsup2

And I thought requesting specific room numbers was over the top!

Please let the CM's do their jobs and get people seated and served. IF you have a problem let a manager know, but until then-let the magic happen!
