OK, so in theory it's my favourite film, but only because it is the most powerful film I've ever seen and I gauge films by their emotional impact.

I dared to watch it again.

And it brought me to tears. Just to watch mere kids' lives disintegrate around them at the hands of drugs and prostitution is too much to take.

Now I remember why I swore never to watch it again.

It's Requiem for a Dream, by the way.

I saw The Dearhunter long ago and it truly disturbed me. Still remember it to this day. Good thing was I learned to be careful about movies and I have passed on lots of movies even though I think they are probably really well done.
i.e. Saving Private Ryan, Braveheart, etc.

I was in a theater with dh and tho I forget the movie name. It was where the White House was Under Attack.. it impacted me so much... it brought back 911 for me.. I was just so crazy emotional and knew I could not stay. I got up and had to leave.

Yeah, it's prob why I Love Disney , escapism... and am a voracious reader of those type books as well.

127 Hours is pretty hairy. In our cinema, it had to be paused because a member of the audience fainted and had to be taken away in an ambulance.

I watched What Dreams May Come about a week after my daughter was born. I cried like I had never cried before and I swore I'd never watch it again. It was on tv about two years ago and I flipped over to it, just to see where it was, and it was one of the most emotional scenes of the movie. I watched it, bawled again, and I don't think I could do it again. Oddly enough, I own it on DVD and it still sits unopened.

Robin Williams death really hit me hard so that may be another reason I don't want to see it again.

One of the films is Dangerous Minds..now I think it's a great movie but it also makes me upset/sad too. It's the scene where LouAnne is told about Emilio death and it chokes me up every dang time. In my mind I'm just thinking "if only the Principal realized exceptions to rules exist and perceptions of people can be changed he might have lived" and I just can't help but think somewhere that situation where someone isn't listened to because of their perceived image something bad happened to them because of it.

Ok so I haven't seen that movie..is it one though that I should see even if just once?

There are so many movies that I absolutely love but make me cry so much!
Off the top of my head I can think of "Waterloo Bridge" with Vivian Leigh and Robert Taylor.

It would change you, from it's graphic depiction of electroshock to the symptoms of drug addiction and prostitution. Ellen Burstyn was so unfairly passed over for an Oscar, as was the script. And the worst thing is, anyone who has fallen prey to a severe psychiatric illness will bitterly identify with the depictions.

:scratchin hmm ok maybe it's a film that can wait for a while then. I've heard about it for sure just haven't seen it.

The barbed wire scene in Legends of the Fall *shudder*. Depressing movie all the way through.
