Seriously upset by a film

Saw Manchester By the Sea last night. I would not say it was in the category of Boy in Striped Pajamas or Apocalypse Now, but it was so intensely sad I couldn't sleep last night thinking about it.

The first movie I thought of when I read this was Seven. DH and I saw this at the theater when we were dating. Like someone else said, everyone in the theater just got quiet at the end and filed out silently. I like psychological thrillers but I will never watch this one again.

I do not like movies about war either but have watched ones because someone else got me to and will never again. Those that come right to mind are Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, and Band of Brothers. Rivers of tears for me...

As someone else stated I probably should have my girl card pulled as I don't get into tear jerker girly romantic movies- they just seem sappy to me.

I would agree with this. That one stayed with me a long time after watching. But then as the days went by the more I loved the film, and I think I could watch again now. It was soooooooooo sad though, the scene in the police station and the one where he ran into his ex on the street with her new baby, just gutted me.

Ok dating myself here but the first movie I remember crying at when I was a kid was "Spencer's Mountain" when the tree falls on the grand father. One here recently I teared up over and not even sure why was SnowWhite and the Huntsman. The scene when Kristin Stewart comes back from being dead(or so everyone thought) and gives her speech fight the evil queen.

I love Spencer's Mountain and can watch it every time it's on TCM. Mimsy Farmer used to annoy me even when I little! And the ***** who wouldn't let her sugar daddy loan money to the Spencers.

The acting is fantastic.

I agree with everyone who said The Boy In The Striped Pajamas.
I find it difficult to watch any real story where a tragic event occurs. Flight 93 is one that really sticks out in my mind.

I watch Sophie's Choice 30 years ago and found it to be hauntingly disturbing.

Hmm... may have done myself a mischief. I watched Event Horizon yesterday before bed. Didn't sleep a wink. It is that nasty! Very clever premise though, very simple yet terrifying.
