Disappointing. Same sale as last week. I know they just ended free shipping, but I truly thought they'd actually have a site-wide sale today. Bummer. :confused3

You haven't noticed that schools , banks, post offices are closed, workers off and most papers have big ads for Columbus Days sales:confused3

Other than the post office and banks, it's a normal day here. Kids are getting on the bus right now and DH went to work this morning as usual.

I don't get why it's so hard for people to understand it isn't celebrated here. :rotfl:

well..if we knew where "here" was, maybe...
DH works, DGK have a fall break all week (wow..there is a 'break' every month and then we wonder...nevermind...)I'm off since we close when the banks close. No, not a big holiday and not really 'celebrated' but stores generally do use any excuse to try and get people to spend their money.

"Here" is WI.

Not all those are closed here...schools don't get out for Columbus day and the only people not working are those you listed (bank, post office and gov. employees). Just a normal day in our neck of the woods :thumbsup2

Costumes are 40% off....not a great sale but it's something.

The banks, post offices, gov't offices are closed here. Kids are out of school, but teachers are doing inservice so they are at work. There are a lot of sale ads that came through my email. There seems to be several "marathon" tv shows this morning which seems to be the norm for any holiday regardless of how large or small. :rotfl2:

Wow! I didn't realize how many States do not celebrate Columbus day. All of our schools are closed here in NYS. As well as banks, post offices, State offices, etc.
But the malls are open and they have some sales going on...:)

Same here!

Schools, banks, etc. are open around here. At least my kids school and my bank are.

We're in MN and the kids are in school, DH at work, and my bank is open, I will stop by today. Here, Columbus Day is observed about as much as Flag Day.
I have wondered why some holidays are always observed on the exact date while other holidays are observed on a different date. Is it usually just to get a 3 day weekend?

But I wish we had a bunch of sales going on here, any excuse for a sale is good for me!:rotfl2:

IN - Schools open and my bank is open today. I just happen to have a free financial review appt today.

I just dropped off my daughter at school, so no school closures here. We did have Thursday and Friday off for teacher in-service though.

I have no reason to go to the bank today so I have no idea if they are opened or not.

Just went for a walk thru downtown and all the banks I passed were open....

I didnt even know today was a holiday, althought I am hoping for a sale. I seen something at the parks last week that I want...... but at 25% off :thumbsup2

Today is a Federal Reserve holiday. Banks may be open but they are not conducting all types of business because the Fed is closed.
