So- my DD24 and DS27 are incredulous that I am going to WDW again (I took them there last Xmas). I have a business convention in Orlando and booked a SOLO trip for a few days before and a final day after which lets me attend Epcot Food and Wine and BOTH MNSSHP on 10/31 and the first day of MVMCP on 11/8. So it has come to this...my kids who grew up going to Disneyland and have been on 2 Disney cruises and a variety of trips...are kind of...sort of...over WDW. "Uh dad...we'd rather go to Coachella!". "Are there any new rides there?" Me? I'm going to have a great Solo vacation! And as Maxwell Smart says... "...and LOVING it!"

I'd imagine they'd have fun going, but it almost sounds more fun going alone tbh!

Enjoy the trip!!! I would do the same.

Tell them that when they're paying for the trip, they can decide where to go.

Until then, as the common phrase goes, "sit down, be quiet, and color."

Sounds great to me! I get the "you're going AGAIN" response from people all the time. Oh well! My vacay money, my choice. enjoy your trip!

They're adults. Don't they have something they're passionate about?

Does it matter what they think about it?

This younger generation is privileged differently. They don't value the kinds of things the 40 plus crowd does. Their sense of adventure lies at the end of a smart phone or Xbox. They have been given most we had to strive hard to achieve.

They will learn in time. I hope.

When I was 24 and 27 I didn't care at all where my parents went on vacation. The last real vacation I took with my parents was when I was 14, after that they just left us at home with pizza money. :)

?

As boring as Coachella sounds to me, it's certainly not a video game. And they asked a decent question; if there are new rides there.

Going to Disney over and over is weird to some people, and even some Disney people are kind of "over" WDW. My family kind of included. And our just-finished dlr trip made me regret getting an ap on our first day and having Star Wars 5 and 10ks booked.

My family went to WDW in October 2014 and have trips scheduled for January 2016 and June 2017.

After that, I think we're going to take a nice loooong break from WDW for a while.

I guess I just don't get why adult kids even care what motivates their parents to return to a given vacation spot. Why does it matter if there are new rides? People spend their vacation time and money on what they find enjoyable, which is a very subjective thing (new rides or not).

LoL, I'd go more often if I could.....I get jealous when I read that others go monthly or like 6 times a year...It NEVER GETS OLD!!!!

True, Newer rides will change things up alil each time, but you just can't that Feelin :jumping1: that you get when you are on WDW property..That's what keeps me coming back..

ENJOY your solo trip!

I disagree completely. My 25 yo DD's last 2 vacations were to Turkey and Viet Nam/Cambodia. She likes Disney, but there is a lot more to the world!

I'm not as adventurous. I did a solo WDW trip last May and am doing another one this Sept, both were while my DH and DD are off on Scuba trips.

Thanks everyone. I love going to NY to visit them- and I've been to Israel twice in the last 5 years (absolutely incredible inspiring trip- highly recommend)- but YES there is just something intangibly delightful, wonderful, magical, spirited, and joyful about entering WDW hotels, parks, restaurants, and enjoying the theming. I am grateful I can go - seems lots of business conventions in both of my careers seem to land near Orlando (so I simply have to hit up the parks). Thanks everyone everybody- love the dialogue.

Take a selfie of you enjoying some food and drink at F&W and send it to them! Then they'll see what they're missing. :P

Have a great time! :goodvibes

Uncle Walt seemed to know that while there is very little grown-up in a child, there is a lot of child in every grown-up.

The Disney Magic and Pixie Dust has done more to heal and soothe troubled human spirits than all the psychiatrists in the world. There can’t be many adults who have not inhabit the Disney imagination though the parks, movies, characters and other presentations that didn't find themselves better for the visit. Uncle Walt, tried to tell us all about laughter, love, children, puppies and sunrises,, and the magic they all hold.

So if your kids reach a point where they think they are to smart or grownup for the MK, tell them in no uncertain terms that you are the smarter one in being ready to return to WDW.etc.... because no person is never to old for Disney.
