This link claims Compass Books is leaving DTD in winter - I think he's saying this coming year, not this past one????

Also, Starbuck's is coming to DTD?

Not good news for us. Compass Books coffee was way better than Starbuck's. Geez.

Well, that will be one long line. And yes, Starbuck's is better than the theme park coffee (swill) but not our fav.

I guess everyone's opinion is different. I am happy that Starbucks is coming. Now that means frapuccinos on hot days and really good hot chocolate on cold mornings.

:thumbsup2 Very happy about this change. Finally!

Now, what are the chances In n Out burger will come to Downtown Disney? :rotfl:

Compass Books had great espresso drinks. Never had a bad one, hot or cold. Way better than Starbuck's. The coffee (forgot the CA company they used) had great beans and roasted them right. Not burnt.

Now, if they brought in Peet's we'd be thrilled with that choice.

But as I said, anything is better than what they pass for coffee in the parks.

I am so excited to hear that starbucks in coming to DTD!!!! While at home, I go to my local coffee shop instead of Starbucks, but on vacation I enjoy knowing I can get a Caramel Frapp that will be good and tasty!! :yay::cool1::goodvibes

Seems like a lot of bookstores everywhere are closing which is a pity... :sad2: I have to say though, I would be MUCH happier if there was a starbucks on my way into the parks! Compass Books mocha was just too bitter for me, and I couldn't find better elsewhere either!

Compass books is supposed to close at the end of March. I heard they are closing all but their SF location.

Add me to the list of those that are happy to hear a Starbucks is coming. I never tried the Compass Books coffee, I never even thought to go down there for coffee. Now if it was a Starbucks, I would go down there every day.

I'm sorry to read that Compass Books is going away. I've always enjoyed going into that store.

I am glad that Starbucks is coming to. DTD doesn't really seem like a great place for a book store, anyways. It is very sad that all of the book stores seem to be going away!

True. I do miss spending hours browsing through a bookstore. However, with the Internet, book shopping is much more convenient. Now I can search for books online and have the book delivered to the kindle app on my iPad in minutes.

Well now I am kicking myself for not going into compass when we were just there at Christmas. I guess I am in the minority cause I cannot stand starbuck, then again I am Canadian and have that Tim's addiction going on.:lmao:

I am thrilled Starbucks is coming. I miss having my coffee when we are there. I have to get one as soon as we get to the airport to fly home. :)

I agree with you MJ, not happy about Compass Books or Island Charters. It is not coffee any more, its coffee with addtives..like a fine steak with catsup.

Don't recall if I've had the coffee from Compass Books - but happy to hear Starbucks is coming. And agreed - those fraps will rock on a hot day.

Same here - it has an interesting selection of merchandise. We've bought some things there we hadn't seen anywhere else, and have also "voted with our wallets", buying a few things we might have found elsewhere or online. But alas...

Ugh, like the world needs another Starbucks (there are so many better choices for coffee -support your local coffee house!) or needs another bookstore to close. I'm sorry, but this is truly sad.

Haagen Dasz says they have Peet's, at least for espresso drinks.

Im not a coffee drinker, but I do love Starbucks hot chocolate and their yummy treats! I am going to DL next month, so I plan on visiting Compass since I've never been in there, I heard they have some nifty books that you can't find easily in the other Disney shops. I'm sad that another bookstore is closing, for sentimentality reasons, technology is great, but sometimes it's good to curl up with a good book in hand!
