We live in north St Pete - so we are closer to Tampa than St Petersburg - oh technicalities...
Anyway, we really dislike living here. The people are not friendly. (IMO) It has been really hard to meet friends. To buy a new/er home we would have a HUGE commute to work. We are trying to move back to Orlando. Keep your fingers crossed please! Most people that we found when we lived in Orlando before are not from Florida originally they are people from the midwest who moved down here - like we did. I guess it is just more familiar to us. Just a better fit.
