Honestly, I was surprised too. This case is going to change the art of profiling fundamentally. The vast majority of snipers and serial killers in the last thirty years have been white middle-aged men. It used to be that profilers could safely assume that a white man was guilty in these cases. The serial killer in Florida - Aileen Wuornos - very interesting case because it was so odd. There has not been another female serial killer like her before or since. She even has a Lifetime movie due to the rarity of her situation. The killer in Atlanta - Wayne Williams - classic pedophile who went way off the deep end. He was probably the only black serial killer of note in recent history, until today.
It's not a racist reaction to assume that a serial killer is probably white and male. It's just extrapolation from history, and I want to point out that these extrapolations have resulted in some darned accurate profiles through time.
