“I swear to God I’m [expletive] going to take this [expletive] ball and shove it down your [expletive] throat, you hear that? I swear to God.”

Mean, mean lady:headache:

Refuses to apologize at press conference afterwards. Cocky. Eye rolls. Heavy sighs. Victim.

What else can I say. She is pathetic.

Agreed.

From what I read the line judge definitely made an error with that call based on the replay, and it was match point so I can understand Serena being upset by the call at such a critical stage in the game, but the way she acted was totally uncalled for.

I don't like either of the Williams sisters. They are never graceful or polite about their opponents after a match...and I noticed that years ago.

I can understand her being upset, but she definitely could have handled it with more class.

I agree. Their father is just as ignorant. He, in turn, taught these girls NOTHING in the grace and manners department of life. The way they dress on the court is also a disgrace.

Such a shame.

If I were the line judge, I would be pressing charges against her. How dare you threaten to assault another person:mad:

Heck, I would have been royally upset too if the line judge was continuously wrong.
Why is it okay for men players to get upset and have no negative action taken but when it's a female player she loses the point which cost her the match?

So true. Men athletes act ugly all the time (baseball, hockey, football) when they feel wronged, but I don't see any threads about them:confused3

At least she didn't actually do it:rotfl2:

If a male football player (I don't watch the other sports) threatened to assault a ref, I would feel exactly the same way and, by the way, he'd be ejected from the game so I don't see her punishment as any harsher than the one that a male player would get....it's just the difference between a sport involving two individuals and a sport involving two teams.

I understand what you're saying, I just don't believe that every male athlete that threatens a ref gets penalized (I've seen many baseball and football players blasting refs, and I'm sure they're not telling them to have a nice day. But i rarely see people being penalized for it)

There's a fine line...they're probably not saying "have a nice day...want to come to my son's birthday party next week?" but rather than threatening, they're most likely doing something like calling the ref stupid, blind, or just arguing their case...still not the classiest thing to do (unless they're just arguing their case) but not as bad as threatening to stuff the ball down someone's throat either. They know not to cross that line because they'd be ejected and fined.

There's a difference between blasting and threatening. Threatening a ref will get you tossed from a game.

I agree with you. seems she needs some anger management. no class at all.

I don't understand. was she complaining about winning the point and that caused her to now lose the point?

Sorry I just had to giggle. It sounds like the sport they are playing is MEN! hehehehehee

True enough.:thumbsup2

I remember watching Mc Enroe, Conners, and Hewitt etc....(too numerous to list) listening to their vocal "outbursts" and of course thats not including hockey players, basketball players (who are infamous for their language) and football players.

I don't blame her for going off.

Since she doesn't have a history of behaving that way I'm willing to let this slide.

I love the Williams sister.
They come off as real down the earth normal people. Most of the other players come off as phoney stuck up country club types.

I can understand her being upset, but she definitely could have handled it with more class.

Definitely. However, she's never shown that she would know what the word "class" means.

I can understand her being upset, too, but most people realize that there's a difference between expressing your frustration at a call versus personally threatening the judge. Given the lack of sportsmanship by both of the Williams sisters from the first time they walked on professional courts years ago, I'm actually surprised that something like this hasn't happened before. :sad2:

Did any of you watch it? I was watching it and I understood her being upset the first time. But then she went over like she was going to serve and then decided to go yell at the judge again! Totally uncalled for! There are also specific rules about this and McEnroe commented on that right after it happened that there are specific rules about sportsmanship conduct and she should know this.

I saw it and I agree with you....but I'm :rotfl2:because it seems awfully funny to have McEnroe comment about sportsmanship.

What about getting some better line judges? Electronic devices are much more accurate than some part time, amateur line watcher.

Tennis is big business with enormous amounts of money at stake. At this level it is no longer a sport. Treat it accordingly.

Who do people pay to watch, Serena Williams or the defective line judge?
