What about getting some better line judges? Electronic devices are much more accurate than some part time, amateur line watcher.

Tennis is big business with enormous amounts of money at stake. At this level it is no longer a sport. Treat it accordingly.

Who do people pay to watch, Serena Williams or the defective line judge?

I think it is unfortunate that you are basing everything you know about line judges from this one person. Line judges and officials work very hard to become certified and work their way up to be able to do pro events. You cannot just decide one day that you are going to show up a be a line judge at the US Open. They are human and humans make mistakes, but like many sports they are the officials.

She would not have made it to the semi-finals if she was an amateur part time line watcher. Maybe if you knew some officials and knew how much training and work they put into it, you would not be so judgmental. They get paid very little and do it out of love for the sport. Officials are human and they can make mistakes( we do not even know if she did or not), do you dislike all officials from every sport? I have seen many errors in other sports as well.

I'm a HUGE tennis fan (btw... GOOD JOB KIMMIE, glad you're back, hoping for a Henin return also!) I'm not the biggest Serena fan... but I'm on her side on this one. Although being on the outside, we can just sit by and judge we also need to think about what we've said when we're mad... and hello, how much money was on the line essentially?

Think about it, you're losing a match and a slam you're supposed to win, you're mad and frustrated at yourself with the way you've played and you're close to losing. Then all the sudden, you're wrongfully called on foot faults? Adrenaline is running high... it's entirely possible I would have said the same thing.

eta, calling someone classless certainly shows a lot of class... one should be PROUD of oneself.

It was a classless act. I've seen her behave better than this, so I wouldn't necessarily say SHE is classless, but the act was.

I would absolutely agree that the act was classless... but not Serena.

All I ever see at school is people like her- selfish and cruel- I can't stand it when people are like that! What kind of sick and twisted person shows no remorse for saying and doing mean things like that- UGH!!
