Seralago vs. Quality Suites Lake Buena Vista

Two years ago, we stayed at the Quality Suites in Lake Buena Vista and it was great. This year, their rates are much higher. With the airline prices through the roof and to stay within budget, I reserved a room at the Seralago. I also reserved a suite at the Quality Suites in Lake Buena Vista just in case I'm able to get funds to cover the difference. Obviously, we would like to stay somewhere we have been happy with, but just getting the extra few hundred dollars is really hard right now.

We really just need a fridge so we can freeze our water bottles the night before. The Seralago is a dorm sized fridge, so it may not be enough, whereas the Quality Suites is a full size fridge.

For those of you who have stayed at both these hotels. Which one do you prefer and is it work paying the extra $200+ to stay at the Quality Suites?

We stayed at Seralago one night last summer and I can tell you from our experience with the little dorm fridge, it will not freeze water. Had a litte freezer area, but never got very cold (or at least cold enough to freeze water). Of course, I guess that could vary depending on age of the fridge in each room. But that was our experience.

Also the room we got was really beat up...furniture was bruised and battered, chunk missing out of the vanity. We only needed it for that one night and paid $50, so felt like we got what we paid for. The pool area was nice; kids loved it. We liked that we were on ground floor and parked right outside our door.

Our friends stayed at Serlago a couple of years ago and wouldn't again. They didn't feel safe, there were a lot of people hanging around the hotel that didn't appear to be guests. They also had to change rooms from near the pool to further away, because the walls were thin and the noise was too much to sleep well. Sorry I don't have better news!

We have stayed several times at the seralago. The fridge is smaller. But we like the place pretty well.

I can only comment on Seralago as we have not stayed at Quality Suites. Here is my mini-review of Seralago from our trip there last May. If you want to be notified of their best rates, be sure to follow them on Facebook!

Pros:

~Price we got was awesome
~Pool was sparkling clean and very comfortable temperature (we only used the front pool, so I can't vouch for the one toward the back of the resort)
~Our room was very clean and we had plenty of space for all of our stuff (that is saying something considering we were a group of all females in my room, LOL)
~The staff was very friendly and if we needed anything they were on top of it quickly
~The general store in the lobby is pretty well stocked (which came in handy when DD15 had a reaction to a mosquito bite and I needed some Benadryl at 10:00 p.m.)
~There were Disney touches all over the place (since they are a Disney Good Neighbor Hotel, they use Disney's logos on hotel items, so everything from our Seralago parking pass to our resort info brochures had Disney on it). There were also some Disney cutouts in the lobby which the kids liked getting pics with and they have the Disney Parks info channel with Stacy.
~There was noticeable security throughout the resort which was nice (they were riding around on golf carts checking things out pretty much every time we were outside)
~It was a short, easy drive to the Disney Maingate and I was actually getting a kick out of getting to go through the gate so many times, LOL
~Didn't see a single bug, mouse or rat (tiny lizards, yes of course)

Cons:

~The water pressure definitely needs some adjusting...you can tell when the people behind you are in the shower at the same time you are. Not a huge deal and I know a lot of people have switched to the "low-flow" showerheads anyway, but annoying to me because I have thick hair and need the water pressure to rinse properly. Luckily that only happened to me 2 times all week.
~The outside could use some sprucing up. It doesn't look too bad when you first pull up but once you round the corner past the lobby building, you can tell that the buildings are quite dated. Having said that, everything in our room was modern and up to date ~ it just doesn't make for nice pics right outside the rooms. Not a big deal to us.
~We got annoyed with the shuttle service that Seralago uses. They use Maingate shuttles and in the morning they were pretty much on time to take us to MK and the driver was very nice. However, we were told to be back to our spot by 11:15 p.m. for the last pick up and we got there at 11:14 and the shuttle had already left. It was the last one for the night and we had to take a taxi back ~ not convenient and we put in a complaint about that. Again, annoying, but not a dealbreaker for me ~ we would make to sure to be in the spot at least 10-15 minutes earlier next time to be safe.

Thanks for everyone's response. It really helped. I'm leaning towards the sure bet of the Quality Suites.

We're going on June 29 this year and missed out on the Early Bird special, but enough Googling, I found similar rates at http://letsgotoorlando.com/. I think the company owns both websites because the hotels are the same.

Warm & Sunny Regards,

i went there when my cousin was in town. it was embarrassing. total dump.

There are many Quality Suites in the Orlando area. Are you sure it was the one on Palm Parkway? It seems to get good reviews on Tripadvisor:confused3

I think (don't know for sure) that the poster was referring to Seralago, not Quality Suites. Seralago has some bad reviews esp with saftey issues, that is why I would not book with them myself & went with Quality Suites this trip.
