Seralago Hotel & Suites Main Gate East

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has stayed here recently or in the past and what your impressions were. We stayed at Pop Century on our first visit and was wondering how this hotel compares being about $50 per night cheaper on the nights we are planning for.

We stayed there last year, the first 3 rooms they tried to place us in were on the back and side of the back of the complex and they were disgusting. The smell of smoke and mold was the worst part and they just were dirty and dingy. We were moved to the side building for 2 days which was better, and then the manager finally moved us to a kids suite for the remaining week, this was a downstairs room facing the pool and playground area and it was great. Clean, no nasty smell, and the room was set up with a king bed for the adults and then a log type cabin room with a bunk bed and single bed for the kids. They had their own tv and game system and they absolutely loved it.

If you're going for a room there and don't want a kids suite, then book directly with the hotel and make sure you are in the front of the complex, if you're going with a kids suite you should be just fine.

They have a store and take out resturant in the lobby which I found to be more than adequate and the food was good. The staff are friendly and helpful and if you have a problem the day manager will do their best to solve it.

Old town is just a few minutes way away, my girls loved going there and they are open late and have amusement rides and entertainment. The stores are not much but I liked the deal on Sundays for bracelets for the amusements, my girls were 6 and 15 last year and both had fun.

I can't remember if the hotel had breakfast, however there is a Ponderosa across the street that has a very inexpensive breakfast buffet that we went to most days, I believe it was less than $5 a person.

The hotel is close to Disney and very close to many of the dinner shows.

Overall I'd recommend it and we are returning this year for two weeks at the end of February.

Thanks for the description....when would you actually request to get a room in the front of the building? Before you go, or once you get there? Also, how far is it from Universal? Our plan this trip is to stay off site and do 2-3 days at Univeral and 4 or 5 at Disney. We will be renting a car most likely so getting around shouldn't be a problem. Can anyone else recommend any other decent hotels in the general area, in the $50-80 range, or am I out to lunch on that...lol.
The values are at $109 during our potential travel dates. April-May.

I would stay up near downtown Disney is you are hoping to do Universal and Disney. It is much more between the two and a nicer area. The Country inn and Suites LBV is awesome as is Sheraton Safari. For a nice suite hotel try the www.palominosuites.com (Old Homewood property)

be aware that you will need a rental car. no offsite has WDW transportation - or even close to it.

if you are luck the bus will come 3 to 4 times in the morning, and that many times in the evening.

You can't go in the morning and return in the morning - one way only.

so if your group is all adults - hey go for it.

but any little kids that need to nap - either get a rental car or stay on WDW property.

remember no EMH (extra magic hours either).

also during very busy times - spring break, easter, christmas - hopefully not summer - but no guaranteeds.

WDW can and does close the park to offsiters. the parking lot get full. they still allow WDW guests because of the WDW transportation.

of course I don't want to be in any WDw park when it is closed because of too many people - much too crowded for me.

right now the Comfort suites LBV is having a special - go look for it. I would recommend it before Seralago Hotel & suites.

however they don't seem to be staying for closing on any night.

you can get a shuttle mears from the airport to your hotel

cost $31.00 per person around trip.

or a lim for $140 around trip.

I stayed at the Seralago last year in May, and it wasn't a very good experience.
It was just me, and no rental car, so I depended on their shuttle bus. The black driver was very nice, the white one was... not that nice. Also, depending on the tips the white driver received, he would drive back and forth between faraway hotels insteda of starting at one side, and then dropping off people everytime he passed a hotel that the shuttles served. The shuttle picks up the last time at 10pm at the TTC, and sometimes it was as late as 11.30 pm before I got to the hotel (after standing in the bus because of too many people)

The room itself wasn't very clean, the airconditioning was so loud that I suffered through the hot nights without airco.

I am NOT going back to that hotel. It can be I will stay offsite again in the future, but not at their hotel. The staff was nice though!

If you ahve to stay near Old Town, check out the Comfort Suites Maingate East. It's right behind OT.

However, since you're doing Universal, I would suggest staying somewhere between WDW and US like the ones talicskai mentioned.
