Sequoia Lodge with Castle Club or Disneyland Hotel without?

Which would you recommend? I've just begun to plan a trip for Spring break and can get an early booking discount before November 4th. Ultimately I would love to do the castle club at the Disneyland Hotel, but the price difference from the Sequoia is over 1000 euro and I just can't justify that. I am new to the board, but you all seem to know everything about DLP and are so helpful.

I guess I should ask also, what are the advantages of upgrading to the castle club? What is the difference between VIP fastpass and regular fastpass?

Thanks!

Castle club is only available at the Disneyland Hotel. Sequoia Lodge has Montana rooms but you don't get VIP fastpasses with them. A Montana room is just a room in the main building (as opposed to the lodges) and it has a mini-bar (the lodge rooms don't).

A VIP fastpass means that you can just walk into the fastpass line for any attraction. Fastpass lines are much quicker than the normal waiting line and normally you only have to wait 5 minutes to get on.

Everyone is entitled to normal fastpasses. To get them you simply visit the fastpass machines outside of an attraction and put your park ticket into the fastpass machine. You will then be given a printed ticket telling you to come back at a specific time. At that time you can join the fastpass line. You are only allowed one fastpass at a time. Only the bigger rides use Fastpass.

The Disneyland Hotel is very beautiful but you'll enjoy your stay no matter where you stay. At the end of the day your hotel is only for sleeping in, you'll spend most of your time in the parks.

Everything that Happy Tappy said is true, except for his last sentence. You will soon find out that we are split here at the DLRP board in two groups. 50% will sing what Happy Tappy wrote. They will choose the cheapest Disney hotels or will even stay outside the resort. And they are the whole day at the parks and they only use their room to sleep and to shower.
But then there is the other half of us. We book (if we can afford it) a better Disneyhotel. And if we could afford it we would stay at the Castle Club for every visit, because every Disney hotel adds so much to your perfect stay. And especially the DLH!
Just have a look at rottie155 topics from the last days. He just returned from the DLH.

To sum this up: If you can afford it book the Castle Club it is worth it and because you will never forget it. And it can be a great advantage if you have a hotel which is almost part of the Mainstreet. Whenever you fell you can just “jump” in and warm up, or have a break. And during peak times the VIP FP will also be a great advantage.

By the way: I am part of the group “We return to our hotel once or twice every day and soak up also the hotel atmosphere because the hotels are also a huge attraction itself.” :thumbsup2

Thank you very much for your replies. I guess I was a bit confused abou the castle club. I wonder what the two different prices I was given for Sequoia were? I specifically asked about Castle Club? I wonder if it was just Montana vs. standard room?

I am completely torn. I really want to do the Castle Club, but it is so much extra money.

Not having to wait in the regular lines is priceless. You get breakfast everyday included and a lounge area for tea/coffee during the day, a nice break from just sitting in your room. We booked Castle Club for December, can't wait to get there!!

Hi, I did CC in March and my advice would be if paying the extra for it means having to cut back on other area of your holiday such as nice meals, shopping etc then it is not worth doing it. If you can afford it comfortably without having to make sacrifices on where you eat then it is a nice extra.

hmm. i have booked to stay in Castle Club next year. I am excited but my favorite place to stay is Hotel New York. Why not consider staying in a suite there. they also offer VIP fastpasses granted the hotel may not be right on the entrance gates but its only a 5-10 minute walk and it would be significantly cheaper.

either way im sure you will have a great time :thumbsup2
