Sorry, it's going to be one of those weeks with questions galore as my trip (did I mention we go in 7 days now?!! :lmao: ) gets closer. Do you get provided with towels for the swimming pool at the SL? Packing space is tight and I'd prefer not to have to lug towels for everyone. You get regular towels for the bath as well don't you?

Yes you get towels at the swimming pool :)

Cool, thanks. I really didn't want to pack 5 swimming towels on the chance we might want to use the pool so that's really helpful :-)

Did I mention, only 7 sleeps to go............

we are going in 7 days too and staying at the sequioa lodge, how are you getting there and have you been before we havent ,

Hello!! We are going on Monday 8th via the direct Eurostar from Ashford. Haven't been on the Eurostar or to Sequoia Lodge before but we have been to DLRP before and we love it!! How are you getting there and how long are you going for? We come home Friday evening.

Thought I'd mention that you have to 'hire' towels. It's either 1-2€ each.

Watch coming out the shower when we were there it wasn;t matted at that bit and my DD slipped:headache:

Thanks for that Angela. Not sure if we will use the pool as we're going to be busy busy busy but would like to be prepared :-)

We've got a Montana room, it was only a couple of quid extra and I wasn't going to risk having a room in one of the lodges!! We booked with Clippers Quay, we like them, and the service is always good. Got our tickets in the post last week so it's just packing to do now, however I'm waiting until about Thursday so I can pick up a more reliable (I hope) weather forecast!!

Long range forecast is currently saying warmish (7-10 degrees) and shower-y, however I'm not going to believe it yet as long range is notoriously unreliable. Our kids are 7,5 and 2 and therefore unbelievably excited!!

I have heard that it is possible to get a free upgrade to a Montana room at this time of year if it is quiet, but you are arriving for the last day of the Christmas season so I'm not sure if it might still be busy when you check in? I guess it's just going to be a "wait and see".

Tips for a first-timer, just enjoy the whole experience!! Use your fastpasses to get slots for the big rides, Thunder Mountain and Buzz and so on, but the queues were really not very long when we went at this time last year.

I will say that if it is going to be cold then you really do need to wrap up very very much as when it's cold, it's very VERY cold. Last year we had snow and the lake was frozen solid. I had ski-ing gloves and thermals on as it was bitter with a biting wind. Wrapped up well it was lovely but I could imagine that if you didn't have the right clothes it would have been miserable.

Other than that, don't bother trying to queue for buses and so on. The Europeans (gross overgeneralisation here sorry) have no concept of queueing and will just barge you out of the way if you stand there expecting them to queue behind you. You have to play the game and shove with the best of them or you'll be at that bus stop all night!!! We ended up just getting on with it and laughing about it otherwise we would have got really stressed. Some of the European people we saw thought nothing of shoving little tiny kids out of the way to get to characters and so on and they all seemed to smoke like chimneys, waving their cigarettes in kids faces. We know to expect it this time so will be much tougher and give as good as we get, if you know what I mean?

You'll have a great time!!

thanks for the advice , have you booked anything there yet and do you know what the wild west night time thing is like is it worth the money,

think i'll go out tomorrow and buy some really warm clothes like you advised
we are hoping to catch the last night of xmas parades we land at 12pm so i hope we'll be there in time we have booked a taxi to take us from airport to hotel,
with the parks closing early is there enough to do all night if we don't want to go to bed early , we went to florida last year so am trying not to compare it to that but it sounds very similar

Buffalo Bills- no idea what it's like as we have never been but we have booked to go on Tuesday night. I've been told that as long as you don't expect gourmet dining that its a good night out. We are going to the 6.30pm one as our kids are only small. Don't forget that you don't pay for the kids as it's "kids go free" season from the Monday onwards.

Enough to do all night? Erm, no idea as we were knackered last year and in bed with the kids by about 8pm :rotfl: Ooh the shame!! We tended to eat at about 6.30pm ish and then pootle back to the hotel and put the kids to bed then mong out reading. I guess if you plan to stay in the park until closing then eat a bit later then you can always go back to the hotel and languish in the bar. Or trawl the bars of the other hotels, I hear the Cheyenne's is nice and they have live music.

Hey, i went in march at the cheyenne last year and am going again in about two weeks, to the sequoia lodge :)

The cheyenne has a cool bar (its like a saloon) and i think live music. Buffalo bills is great. I've only been once and the food was good and the show was very entertaining although, if you're sitting in the front row (as i was) be prepared to get a little dust in your eyes and possibly food but only a little bit as the seating is about 2 metres from the arena edge so it's not that bad.

Enjoy your trips :thumbsup2

Ah, and I'll be the Mum with the 3 blond kids, a long lanky 7 year old boy, a shorter stocky 5 year old boy and a very mischievous nearly 3 year old girl with plaits (probably!) Hubby has more hair on his chin than his head, so you won't miss us :lmao: See you there!!

Amanda
