We are planning a trip to DLRP in November to make use of our Fantasy Annual Passports. I had intended to stay at the Dream Castle Hotel as this is where we stayed in August and we were quite happy with it.

Expedia are now showing Sequoia Lodge as being available for less than £90 more over the 3 nights for our party. This would give us access to the Extra Magic Hours but i have a couple of questions first...

1) Dream Castle is rated as 4* and Sequoia as 3* - I am not that fussed about fancy facilities so long as it is clean and not too cramped (we will have 3 adults (myself my auntie and my cousin) plus my daughter (2) in the room, we aren't bothered about the prospect of sharing but obviously i don't want to find that the rooms are tiny! Reviews seem to be mixed from Wonderful to dated and shabby...

2) When I was looking at the Cafe Mickey Character breakfast i read somewhere about non resort guests having to pay 25 Euro - how much is this for resort guests?

3) What is the breakfast like? I think i saw about someone paying a supplement to upgrade from continental to American style... anyone done this and was it worth it?

4) Finally, we will be in Christmas season by then, what is this hotel like as far as Christmas decoration and themeing goes?

1) The rooms at the Sequoia Lodge are fairly plainly decorated, but they are reasonably sized. Have a look at these Virtual Visits to get an idea

2) I think it works out about 5 euros less for onsite guests (The DLP Foodguide gives the prices as 23 and 17 euros at the moment, though this may be slightly out of date) Maybe somebody can confirm this.

3) It used to be available at a supplement of about 6 euros, though I'm not sure that this is an option at SL any more. Again maybe somebody can help.

4) The lobby of this hotel is very attractive, and lends itself wonderfully to the Christmas season. The decorations will definitely be noticeable, but certainly not OTT :goodvibes

Just to add I booked the SL again because everyone says it looks beautiful decked out for Christmas, with the very dark wood and open fire. the pics n my sig. are SL at Christmas, there are bigger versions at dlpinfo. :)

Hmmm
1) The rooms at the Sequoia Lodge are fairly plainly decorated, but they are reasonably sized. Have a look at these Virtual Visits to get an idea what she said - plain chair, uncomfortable rocking chair, small table, lightweight duvets, rather bare walls, but comfortable and not unusual for a European hotel

2) I think it works out about 5 euros less for onsite guests (The DLP Foodguide gives the prices as 23 and 17 euros at the moment, though this may be slightly out of date) Maybe somebody can confirm this. no idea but I assume that the esteemed moderator is correct!

3) It used to be available at a supplement of about 6 euros, though I'm not sure that this is an option at SL any more. Again maybe somebody can help. Still on offer as of this summer; frankly I don't see the value as the buffet is very extensive. There is also an upcharge for whole fruit, but there is fresh fruit salad on the buffet

4) The lobby of this hotel is very attractive, and lends itself wonderfully to the Christmas season. The decorations will definitely be noticeable, but certainly not OTT what she said:goodvibes

Have you tried calling Disney Direct to get a room only price from them?

Maybe you don't get discounts with Fantasy passes, I don't know, but from what I recall the room only price without discount for the 3 nights we are going next March was still less than the price I now see quoted on Expedia.

Thanks for the info, I did try Disney direct but it was £70 more over the 3 nights than with Expedia.

Well the room rate quoted (£411.75 for 3 nights) included a discount of some sorts for the Fantasy pass but I think Dream pass holders get a better discount. Expedia are coming out at £341 for the same dates and room yupe.

Plus with Expedia I will go through quidco and get some cashback too :)

It's odd how they vary. We were quoted £423 through Disney, yet Expedia are saying £539 or something, granted that's for a Montana Room, but we are happy with standard anyway :)
