Sequoia Lodge - Character meets?

Been looking into SL and the one thing I am confused on is the character interaction. It is mentioned somewhere that there are character meets at breakfast and then others say there aren't anymore

We've been really spoilt with characters at DLH breakfasts but prices are so high, we won't be staying there again if we go and I just don't fancy the HNY for some reason. So it's either NPB (which I'm a bit put off due to size of the hotel) or SL.

The latter appeals as it's being refurbed and just generally seems a nice theme.

PS - Which are the best rooms to book in the hope of getting a refurbed one - is it in the main building (cheaper?) or Montana room?

Also, is there any difference in walking time between the NPB & SL - I believe not but I've read it depends where you are in the hotel as you go out the back of the SL to get round the lake?

Thanks :goodvibes

we stayed at HNY and character meet'n'greet were every day at 8.00am in the lobby.

Hi

I don't honestly fancy HNY.

I'm really interested in SL I think.... Or NPB if I could be swayed by anyone that it is the better of the two.

Thanks anyway :)

Both times we stayed at Sequoia Lodge characters were out from 8 every morning. There were two characters each day which switched every half hour.

I would say that there is a few minutes difference in walking time at most between the two hotels. Out of the two I prefered the Sequoia, it just seemed more homely somehow. Although we were upgraded to a gorgeous suite at NB.

Thanks for the reply Joth - were the characters in the lobby or next to the restaurant like at DLH?

I see it's a little while since you stayed at SL, I'm sure I read in this year's brochure that there were not characters at breakfast but it was an e brochure and my netbook wasn't playing ball so hard to read! I'm waiting for my snail mail copy in the post :thumbsup2

Anyone stayed recently that can confirm?

Also on the question of trying to get a refurbed room - where are they?

Thanks.

Can't help with the refurbished rooms I'm afraid.

The characters were just by the top of the stairs that you go down to get to the restaurants and the back exit to the parks.

Looked in the brochure I have downloaded and for all disney hotels it just says character meet and greets and photo opportunities - It doesn't specify when.

OK thanks - I might email them and ask the question at SL.

I'd hate to be disappointed - makes sense to have a meet & greet at breakfast as it will be the busiest time in the hotel, (although when I stayed at DLH they also had them during the day as well). It's an important point for us so would need clarifying before we booked with the hotel I think.

We went in December and they were definitely there then. We stayed at the Cheyenne but OH went to the Santa Fe and SL before breakfast to find out who was appearing.

HTH :flower3:

I stayed at the SL from the 24th Dec to the 27th. Minnie was in reception when we checked in and I had high hopes then for the rest of the stay......we didn't see any other characters after that!!
We were in and around the hotel quite a bit aswell....but we either were unlucky and missed them or they just weren't there.:confused3

The SL is my favorite resort in DP in winter , the caracters are present, in the lobby all the morning but not for breakfast lunch or diner....;

Yes i have only ever stayed at Sequoia and the characters have NEVER been in the restaurants at any time, breakfast or dinner. They are always at the top of the stairs on the left side.

Cafe Mickey might be a better choice for breakfasts with characters if your staying in the Sequoia.

Maybe others could confirm?.

the characters aren't in the restaurants at the DLH for breakfast either - I thought PJackson was asking if there was a character presence in the mornings at the SL anywhere?

I always thought it was just like all the other onsite hotels, the characters are there (or certainly have been every time I've stayed/visited) from around 8am for a couple of hours, in their designated meet n greet spot (usually in or around the main reception area). you can usually see somewhere in reception, a board or on a wall somewhere, which characters (its usually 2 per morning, rotating every half hour) will be there on which days of the week during your stay.

I've visited every onsite hotel in the mornings, except the SL, and all of them have had the character meets every morning. To me, the presence of the characters in the onsite hotels, plus EMH if you have young children, are the main reasons you pay a premium to stay at an onsite hotel.

Yes, I think they are in all hotels, usually the lobby every morning during breakfast times.

Such a shame you don't fancy the HNY - we love the DLH too, but agree the prices are just too much if you can't get a decent deal.

The caracters are only in the Disney Hothels , not in the hothels near DP like Dream Castle .

actually, theres a weird-looking duck wearing Donald's colours who occasionally comes around at breakfast time at the Dream Castle :rotfl:.

I've stayed at both and I don't remember character breakfasts in either just some characters in the early mornin at the designated character points in hotel. I would definitely say that npb has a longer walking time time sl but I really love the sailor theme at npb!! However sl has a really nice atmosphere to it and I've stayed there the last 2 or 3 times I've gone! I am lucky enough to be staying at dlh for the first time in march though so I'm quite excited!! Happy choosing :)

Me too, i.e. at breakfast time rather than during breakfast in the restaurant :goodvibes

I hope they still do as I would love to see them on our first morning before even leaving the hotel! x

I didn't realise there was a chance of meeting characters in the hotels - we stayed at santa fe last time and never saw any (but wouldn't have known where to look tbh!)
We're at Sequoia this time, so I'm really excited to read this! Someone mentions the top of the stairs - please tell me its wheelchair accessible!

There was a character meet & greet spot in the SL last August it was by the stairs, if you are looking at the bar from the top of the stairs it was to the left.

There isn't any space to have it by the restaurants
