Sequester And Flights...Anyone worried?

Our airport is a regional feed to DFW. The only airline that serves us is American Eagle. Our airport is on the FAA closure list for tower air traffic controlers. American Eagle won't fly into any airport that does not have controled air space, effectivly closing our aiport down to commerical avaition. We have reservations to fly the eagle to DFW in mid June. I do so hope that by then this is all figured out. If not, I'll have to cancle our leg from our airport to DFW and just keep DFW to MCO part. Getting up at 3am, driving 3.5hrs to DFW, parking and the hassell of reduced security at DFW, I'm not looking foward to.

I feel your pain! I cancelled my flight outta Idaho and switched to Salt Lake City, so I'll have to stay in a hotel the night before in Salt Lake City to hit my 6 am flight! Funny how people who have never had to deal with small airports put on their judgey-pants! So many people don't have any other options!! At least you have a few months for them to get things figured out! The cuts are supposed to happen April 1st and my flight is April 13th- too close for me to worry about a trip being ruined!
 
Well That link doesn't list MCO as one of the potential ones being affected....I'm guessin it's probably most of the airports that aren't the busiest???

We're also returning in Laguardia LGA in NYC too...None of those airports are on the list as of now either..

But 1 thing that I do have to say is, that I'm soo annoyed w/ Delta Airlines.

We used to fly Continental for hte most part but switched to JET Blue about 8 years ago...Jet Blue = the best IMHO

Well this upcoming trip I couldn't get good deals roughly at the7 month mark. So we ended up finding great deals for Delat if you sign up for AMEX. They also waived the baggae fees if you're a cardholder too.

Long story short: Originally we were supposed to leave LGA at 6:30 AM and arrive roughly 2 1/2 hrs later. Well 2 months went by & an Email was sent saying that flight was switched to 7:05...Not a huge deal but whatever.

Return flight from MCO 8 days later was originally set for 2:55 PM. once again E mail stating that they put us on a 4:05 pm. Then a month later from that they switched us to a 6:00 pm flight....At this point I was livid. We originally had 9th row seating Iand now we're in row 36...:confused3 They said there's nothing they could do...I spoke w/ a supervisor only to have him say is the best they could do was put us in the preferred section but charge us 39.00 more a person..I was like How is that helping us... Well finally this past Monday they did it again!!! E mail this time changing it back to 6:55 PM....Needless to say I now was on the phone for a total 45 mins. this time, only to find that they did move me up to the 28th row (preferred) with no extra charge....But as we were about to hang up she stated , :
"Don't be surprised if you get another change between now n then." LoL I'm thinking why 4 times isn't enough??? My question is this. I've been flying for at least 35 years now, Has anyone ever had this or anything close to this happend, because I certainly haven't?

Happened to me on two different trips to Orlando with Delta and that is when I said enough is enough. Each time they'd move me I'd lose all our seat assignments. It was frustrating. I switched to JB and love them. I paid more this upcoming trip (11 days!) than I ever have to fly to FL but JB doesn't mess with my flights and we love the snacks and just the vibe on board too.

The news this morning stated that even if the budget cuts happen, the budget that relates to all of this will still be greater than what it was last year. That this is just a huge scare tactic, and it seems to be working.

LOL! If you were Platinum on Delta, American, or US you'd get the same benefits, but I'm glad to hear UA is doing better. Six months ago, they were having serious issues, and my experience is that United had customer service issues for decades now. Hopefully, the ship is turning around. :thumbsup2

I'm glad UA works well for you. I would caution against judging an airline by one trip, as all of them could have the same problems. Just read about United's woes last summer. :upsidedow

I figured it was likely UA you were flying, though. In relation to your original question, 30 minutes is stiff at DEN, but not impossible, since United owns airside B and they are concentrated there. I don't think they have aircraft at any other section, so you'd likely be ok with a tight connection there, as it is a straight shot from one side to the other with moving walkways in sections to help speed things along.

I've flown several airlines, several times and never had any issues except with Frontier. Boo! Thankfully I am from Denver originally, so I know that airport like the back of my hand, but now that I have switched flights anyway, I'll almost an hour layover now. :goodvibes
