How is the Weather in Mid-September?

Does it still rain alot? Is this considered Hurricane season?

I wanted to plan a trip for my sons birthday, but if the weather is going to be horrible, I think I'll try another date.

TIA!!

The year we went in September we had good weather. We did have a rain shower almost every afternoon for about an hour but it coincided perfectly with our afternoon break.

We were also in September this year and twice before. The rain isn't a heck of a lot different from June-August, maybe a little variation. You can get a hurricane, but that's not exactly an everyday occurance. We've never seen anything longer than the hour-long splash, followed by sun. We've always found the daily shower an extra to take advantage of. It cools things down, and if you have rain gear (the standard five buck Disney poncho is great), take advantge of the people waiting out the rain: walk through it and walk-on your next attraction. And look for rainbows, they're spectacular.

We like September because it's still hot. Some don't. When we were going in late October/early November, we found the occasional 50 degree night and 60 degree day a bit of a bummer. It didn't feel like Florida. However, some go BECAUSE it's cooler then. You have to decide that. Assume you'll see temps in the high 80's to low 90's. And it is humid (thus the afternoon showers).

All in all, I think September's the best month to be in Disney: a little less warm than July, and no crowds.

Good luck!

Pat

Also - Even though we had rain every day we had so much fun in September that we are going this year in September. I have to agree with Pat - it is warmer than October.....but I think that's a personal preference. I enjoyed both - the crowds were lighter in September...but we got to do MNSSHP in October.

Ah, good point. And there is the Food and Wine Festival...now I want to go in September AND October...

But to the OP, if you have a trip in Septemer and are wondering if you've made a bad decision, or if Septemer's the only time to go and you're trying to decide if it's worth it or not...September's great. Want to hear more about October, too? I'm trying to decide when I've had a bad time at WDW!

Oh yeah: Easter Sunday.

Pat
