September vs November 2020

I’m in the preliminary stages of planning our next family trip to Disney World!! Problem is, I’m so torn on so many things.

We went January 2018 when our son was 22 months, and we are wanting to go again Fall 2020 when our daughter will be about 22-24 months. So background, we don’t like huge crowds or huge lines (January 2018 was wayyyyy busier than we expected and busier than Touring Plans crowd calendar expected). So I was looking at September for lower crowds and possibility of free dining. The biggest problem with September is the heat/rain/Halloween decor. Pros for September would be Free dining, lower crowds, water park, pool day, park hopper plus, no airfare for youngest. Ideally we would be spending 9-10 nights with 8-9 park days for a total of $4500 including stroller rental and flights. But. The. HEAT. Will we be miserable the whole time? We are from south Louisiana so we know serious heat. But do we enjoy heat? Not really. The heat is basically my biggest hang up with September.

On the other hand, I am considering November 11/12-21. The weather would be much cooler, but hopefully not too cold (because I don’t really like freezing either. I’m a room temperature kind of gal). Anyway, the pros would be better weather, Christmas decor instead of Halloween decor, be in Disney for youngest’s 2nd birthday. Cons would be probably no free dining, paying airfare for youngest on the way home, possibly a shorter trip due to being more expensive, larger crowds, no water park or pool, no park hopper. We would probably book everything separately to find cheapest tickets, rooms, etc. this trip would cost well over $5,000 and not include park hopper or water park days.

We would be staying at Pop for either month.
So basically our priorities are crowds, weather, and cost. Typing this out, it seems obvious that September is a better choice, but I just can’t seem to let go of November for the better weather. Any insights on this predicament?! Is September truly brutal heat wise? I’m just so torn.

Being from LA the main issue you run with September is heat and the potential for a tropical storm. Personally, November is a great time to go. The time you are planning to go in November the weather should be pretty good. It would not be much different than the weather in southern LA during November.

I would check the historical weather data for WDW to know how I would be affected by the local clime for your specific needs. You've got hurricane and humidity levels that could be of importance to you. Probably Sept. is less expensive than Nov though.

I wouldn't count on November being that much colder. I booked November last year for the same reason (11/11 - 11/18) and it was VERY hot!! Probably almost 90 out a few days.

I did November 2-11 last year. And it was hot. I had several locals say it was unseasonably warm. We went to the pool almost everyday. I was not ready for the heat.

I’ve done august twice and it’s been very hot too but with August I was ready for the heat because it was already summer. I’m in NJ and by November it’s cool here so I wasn’t prepared for that heat in November. But we managed.

I say go with whatever works best. I’m not a big Halloween person but I loved the Xmas decor. And you avoid hurricane season.

For November we rented DVC points and payed OOP for food. It wasn’t bad at all. If you aren’t aiming for an Epcot resort it may work for you. The points required for booking are lower in November so you could be paying value rates for a room at AKL. I paid $189 a night for BWV by renting points. But do your research. Rooms are pricier in November (September is cheaper) via WDW site.
