September Park Crowds

Hi! I did a quick search but wanted to find more information that related to my question. My DH and I are going to WDW in two weeks and we are so excited! It is my 20+ trip and only his 3rd. We're celebrating our one year anniversary and we want our trip to be very special. I was hoping we would experience a lot more of the parks together than he's seen in the past due to high season crowds. I know September used to be pretty light but I'm wondering whether that has changed due to such things as the Free Dining offer going on through the first of October.

So, what have you Disney fans experienced so far for crowds for the month of September? Should I brace myself for long waits at the popular attractions? And what about the weather? I'm assuming it is still very hot in Florida this time of year.

Anyway, your thoughts and input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The free dining offer no doubt raised crowds some. However, they are still lower than most of the year. So, go and enjoy!

Great, thanks so much for your replies. We're really looking forward to spending an entire week at WDW and getting to enjoy a lot more of what's on offer without spending lots of time in line.
Cheers!

Mid-Late September is usually one of the least busy times to go. (I'll be there in 2 weeks too!)

The weather is hot, but bearable, and very comfortable at night. I'm expecting crowds will be a little bigger than normal because of the free dining, but overall it should be very nice. I think the worst problems will crowds will be at sit down meals because almost everyone staying onsite is doing at least 1 SD meal per day. The restaurants are all totally booked.

I called yesterday to change three of my reservations (for 2 weeks from now) and got exactly what I wanted. They offered me several times at each restaurant.

My parents keep changing our PS's and we leave sunday. There are still Tons of open spaces at alot a restaurants. I'm hoping that that's a good sign that the parks won't be as crowded as anticipated. :cool1:

I have changed our PSs numerous times this week for our trip next week. No problems at all.

Is anyone just back and want to comment on the crowds you saw the last few days?

I know historically Sept is a low-crowd time to go - Just like to know how it is now if anyone share their first hand experience.

THanks!

we have been twice in sept 01,04 and both times were pleasant not having to wait too long in line even for the most popular rides

Wow I am surprised. I have made many phone calls trying to change some times and they always tell me they are booked solid.

I had some similiar experiences with the more popular breakfasts and dinners. I expect this has something to do with last week of september/first weekend in october. I hope the crowds are ok....

We are going Sept 25- Oct. 1 and I am concerned about waiting lines at the parks. We are staying off property this time so we won't be doing so much dining in the world. I was there last year from Sept. 17-21 (couple days after their latest hurricaine) and the lines were small, however just about all of the fastpasses were closed.
Is this typical during the off season and what do you think we should expect for lines & rain?? :umbrella:
Thank you

I just got back yesterday after being at DW for 6 days in Sept.

The crowds were not that bad at all, matter of fact we did MK on Wed when they had evening extra magic hours. Each ride we went on, including Splash Moutain and Big Thunder Mountain you walked right up.

The signs stated it was a 10 minute wait, but that 10 minutes was the time it took you to walk through the barriers. Walk and enter the ride.

The longest wait we had was on Monday for Sorin and for that we got a fast pass which was one hour later. It was a simple walk up and ride an hour later.

The last day Friday we wanted to hit it again, went through the stand by line and it was only a 20 minute wait.

Changing dining reservations when you are there is a piece of cake. We got to make plenty of changes.

WOOOHHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I get excited when I read about DW and hear 10 minute wait times.

I've been worried, too! We go in September to avoid the waits. It's good to hear the lines aren't that long. We will be there the last week in September!
