Unfortunately I've had to postpone my trip to WDW with my DS 8. We have had a death in the family. I am trying to reschedule. We will be at WDW for 4 days only. One of those days will be hotel/pool day. Should I reschedule for end of September or early October? Columbus day weekend, is that more crowded than other weekends in October? How about the weather, is it about the same in both months? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you,

Hi Cindy,

We are going Oct.9-16 and this will be our 2nd time going at this time of the year. The weather was very pleasant last year. The only day that we really waited a significant time (1hr) on line was the Friday of that week. From what I understand, Florida schools are closed that day. Other than that, I loved going to October. It's still warm enough to go swimming and cool enough to enjoy walking around Disney. :)

What part of Conn are you in? I'm in Westchester County. I was brought up right on the border of CT and NY near Greenwich. :wave2:

Good luck.

TTFN,
Maria

Should I reschedule for end of September or early October? If you have the choice you might want to go for Sept. although there are more extras events going on in Oct like MNSSHP and F&W.

Columbus day weekend, is that more crowded than other weekends in October? YES!!! I think it is.My son use to get a couple days off toward the end of Oct but last year they started mid Oct...seems quite a few schools in the south are taking Columus Day week off these days...I noticed a bigger attendance last year...I think the Fairytale Package deal that was running last year made a difference in drawing bigger crowds too.

How about the weather, is it about the same in both months? I think it's more pleasant ,less humid in Oct.Although a couple years ago it was HOT in Oct but the year before it was sooooo chilly we wore jackets in the day.TG we were staying at a place with an indoor pool that trip!

I would opt for October....the farther you get away from hurricane season the better. Everytime I've been in September (about 5 trips) we have always had ALOT of rain, but still hot and muggy, especially with the rain pounchos on. I find October to be a much better time in terms of weather. JMHO.

September will be much less crowded than October, and especially Columbus day weekend, which will be very crowded.

If you are more concerned with getting more rides in and having more time to relax, I'd go with Septemeber,
if you prefer a few degrees cooler, and dont mind more crowds, then go for October

This will be the 3rd year we have gone in the 2nd-3rd week of September. I usually pull my DD out of the second week of school and we head to WDW. The parks are not at all crowded and pay close attention to the unofficial guide books that tell which days to go to which park. I remember reading how long the lines would befor Dumbo, I think we waited 10 minutes. We were able to do the Buzz Lightyear ride over and over and over. It was great!

If you're staying onsite, keep in mind also that September is value season, and October is regular (although it seems like discounts might be made available for October).

tracl921, can you tell me if you get a lot of rain in September as everyone seems to indicate? I've been to WDW many times but never in September and I'm concerned our whole trip will be a wash! :-)

I have gone a few times in Sept and yes, it will rain, but it's not going to rain 24/7. When I was there this past September I had rain for a couple of hours on a couple of days. Only 1 day did we really get torrential downpours, but even that was only for a few hours. In Sept 2002 it rained for an hour or two every evening, but I just did indoor activities or ate at that time. One night it rained all evening long but out of 9 nights that's not so bad. The upside to rain is that the parks clear out. You'll be just fine.

Both times of the year are great. We are going Mid September and enjoy the short lines and small crowds.

Why not go 2 days in Sep & 2 in Oct???

Yes, I have been thinking about that last weekend in September and the first few days of October. I'm confused on how to use the discount codes though. I just cancelled my reservation for August, and I'm hoping that might prompt a postcard or email. But if I don't act soon, I may lose the September discount that is currently available. Any advice. (and thanx for the advice so far!)
