September Hurricaine Watch

No insurance for us. We are heading down in 3 weeks and I'm not too concerned. I'll start watching the weather 3-4 days in advance but it's not something I'm stressed over.

too many things can happen forcing a cancellation so I always get it. That way we can get the money back .:surfweb:

No insurance for us - I'd rather be at WDW than at home if there's a hurricane. At least WDW is inland! Our house is in a Cat 2 mandatory evac zone! :scared1:

We bought the insurance. And we ALWAYS will. For us it's all about the medical.
Coming from out of country we NEED it. Without going into the long detailed story.. the last trip insurance covered meds and a visit to the clinic for dd who ended up having Strep throat.
The trip before that the insurance saved us in the range of 15,000 dollars when ds got very ill.. ambulance rides, meds, hospital stay (2 nights) and all that went with appendicitis:scared1:

So we will never be without out of country medical insurance.
Travel insurance was trickier. I did get it..but it does not cover cancellation on my end because I didn't add the insurance within the right time frame for booking.
We are covered for interupption, having to leave early, weather, lost baggage etc.

It was 180 dollars for four of us to be covered on any trip we take out of country all year.
Totally worth it.

Well if there is a hurricane it will no doubt track down any Buffalo Bill fans and soak them all week long! :rotfl2:

Just kidding :goodvibes .....but I have not forgotten 01/03/1993

hahaha! Amen to this! :rotfl: 2011 is our year! :lmao:

Revenge shall be ours! :banana::banana::banana:

LOL.........

The parks were empty, we were walking on every single ride, absolutely no fast pass used for the entire trip. Best Disney Vacation to date.

For our family, I think as long as flights are not canceled, we're willing to chance it. :goodvibes

We were there when TS Fay hit, too! We arrived hours before the flight delays started.

We also said is was the Best Trip EVER! Temps were nice, parks were EMPTY - it was great!:thumbsup2

Please people do not watch the weather channel. Just take your dollar store ponchos. Expect a chance of showers perhaps daily. You will still have great weather and be able to enjoy your trip.

I'm only looking for pOssible flight delays. We got our dollar store ponchos and we can have fun in all weather!

No Disney insurance this time. We didn't use it the last couple of years either. After witnessing first hand, how Disney operates in inclement weather, my confidence has soared. I have peace of mind.

Now before, I was scared that everything would be closed and all the rides would shut down. But no -- not at Disney.:goodvibes

From what I read Disney has built in hurricane insurance in that they refund fully if the National Weather Service declares a hurricane at either WDW or you place of origin (i.e. you home). Am I not reading that correctly? :confused3

Yes, I'm also wondering about this. We are going 9/14 to 9/21 and did not buy insurance.

We have been the past 2 Septembers and are going again this year. No insurance purchased and I am not even going to look at the weather. I know there will be a 100% chance of HOT with 100% chance of HUMID. That's all I need to know! You might prepare for a chance of rain but in the past 2 years...we only had one 30min shower in '09 and about an hour storm at night last year.

Don't worry and have fun!

We have been in Sept every year for nearly a decade and will be there this Sept too. We have weathered a few hurricaines and tropical storms over the year and its' really not that big of a deal at WDW. Orlando is pretty far inland and the storms usually lose alot of steam, it's just some rain and wind. We have even been at WDW on lock down for the storms and don't consider it ruining or negatively effecting our trip. If anything it made us enjoy our resort more and gave us more time to relax.

I will probably start looking a week before we go. I try not to worry or think about it much. We will probably go no matter what. :thumbsup2
