It could be true, look at the attached link and you will notice that Sept has typically the least amount of contracts sold, that may have some bearing on that assumption. Some resort have a much lower sept sales than other, look at the resort you are thinking about.
By a different argument, since September is a rare UY, the people who want to match an existing September have a limited pool and will be eager to find one.
And n00bs entirely generally don't know it is rare and won't care.

I have sold 3 different contracts in the last year and all 3 sold in a matter of hours not even days. So September demand might be higher due to low quantity.
I have also bought 3 in the last 3 years all September. You just have to be patient to find what you want then fast acting to get them.
I own two Sep contracts and watch the resales fairly often. They don't come up nearly as often as some other contracts...which makes sense from the data above on overall percentage of sales. But one thing I have noticed is if they are priced fairly they don't tend to sit very long. I think with the increase in demand in "fall frenzy" and inherent demand December has always had, a September UY sets up nicely for those times.
If the OP is on the fence about buying a Sep UY I wouldn't let ease of reselling it deter you from buying it vs another UY.
I have a September contract and didn't realize the low number of them until after I bought, but it doesn't bother me. I will tend to think that if I were to sell it to buy a bigger contract I should be able to rather easily if there are others out there who want to match their use year up.
We have one contract that is September. We were able to purchase it at a fair price. It works well for our travel plans.
As I've watched resales, a September UY doesn't seem to come up as frequently as other months, but they don't seem to be available very long either.

So true! Our very first contract was an AKV Sept UY. We decided to add on some points this year and it took quite a while to find the right contact on the resale market. We ended up making a full-price offer just to stop wasting time searching for another.
In hindsight, an October UY would have served us just as well and would have had more contracts available when it came time to add on.
In my opinion they are not harder to sell. If a contract has banked points or it is only 25 to 75 points it will sell very quickly regardless of the use year.
