September Check-in - September has Arrived!

my first day will be on the 12th for dapper day do you know if it will be crowded that day?

Last year, I was in CA on Dapper Days and it wasn't any more crowded than the other day we were in that park. I don't know about DL (but it always feels more crowded there anyways).

2 months 1 week 2 days until we leave :cool1:

Hotel reservation is changed to the Disneyland Hotel (we are so excited about that!). We know for the character breakfast we want to do Surf's Up as I've been there before (DH and DS haven't) and I think the character interaction there is great and DS is so looking forward to dancing with Mickey.

Not sure which day we'll go yet. Does anyone know when the schedule with the park hours comes out? I'm thinking that I'd like to go on a day we go to CA as I seem to recall that during the week they open later (like 10am some days) so going one of those mornings would be better so we don't miss as much park time and get there when it may be busier-especially since we'll be taking afternoon breaks with DS.

My partner (36) and I (39) will be driving from Las Vegas on Sept. 17 and checking into the Castle Inn that evening to take my mom (67) to DLR for her first time ever (our second this year) since she enjoyed WDW so much a couple years ago. We'll do DL on the 18th and CA on the 19th. Can't wait! Happy to hear it'll be decorated for Halloween but won't close early during our visit for the party, so we don't have to cut either day short.

Question does GCH have fridges in the rooms now?

I called to request a medicine fridge and I was told the rooms had fridges...they didn't the last time we stayed in 2010 and it's not listed as an amenity online.

I have no idea when the full schedule comes out, I think I was told it was 6 weeks? I want to do Surfs up too and like you are planning around openings, they should make the booking times (is it still 60 days?) and schedule release the same.

Can I be added to the front page?
We arrive on the 23rd and Disney from the 24th-28th we are doing MHP on the 26th :) Staying at Hojo's with every other Kiwi & Aussie I know it seems lol.

Not *every* Aussie ;) We're staying at DI&S, then Portofino Suites.

Currently planning an adults-only weekend for Dapper Day at the Grand.

We just got back from an impromptu driving trip to California where we were going to skip Disneyland and just show the kids California. We started out in San Diego and then made a detour to Anaheim. We ended up spending four days at Disneyland and buying Premium Annual Passes.

Of course, now we've decided to make the most out of our passes. So, we'll be at DLR August 29 through September 1. ::yes::

Then, we'll be back again September 27 through October 4. :woohoo:

We'll be staying at Residence Inn Garden Grove both trips.

Should we drive up through the rest of California and let our kids experience Central California, San Francisco, the redwoods, and all the other wonders of California? Yes! That's why Disneyland built Soarin'. :rotfl:

Oh, how wonderful your family enjoyed Disneyland so much that you are returning two more times this fall. I sooo love it also (I got my first AP in Feb and am going 3 times in a year). In answer to your question (as you asked :scratchin), I believe children thrive when they experience nature and adventure in addition to the magic of fantasy. So, if you spend time in nature and travelling closer to home, then I think that a focus on DLR makes it easier when you travel to CA. But, if this is the majority of your free time, I so encourage you to see the redwoods, Yosemite, the central CA coast and San Francisco.

Just running through quickly... I think I've gotten all info added or updated. Let me know if I missed you or made a mistake. It's getting hard to tell what's what when I edit the OP now!

Touring Plans gives the park crowds a 1 out of 10 for the first few days in September when we are there - if that turns out to be the case, that would be brilliant. Even on Labor Day weekend - they are talking low numbers - surely that cant be right, especially with the Half Marathon going on - our first full day is the Sunday 31st - day before Labor Day and had planned to skip it and go in an extra day on the Thursday (departure from Disney day) but Sunday is a 3.2 at DLR and a 3.9 at DCA - what do you think???

Wow that would be great! But I wouldn't hold my breath. With a holiday weekend and RunDisney event, I'm expecting pretty big crowds. Having said that, the running crowd will tour a little differently to general park-goers, which might work in your favour.

I'd say most runners will be leaving the parks early, either in preparation for a super early morning (we're aiming to get to the corrals by 4:30am :faint:), or just in exhaustion AFTER a super early morning followed by a good workout :rotfl: I suppose on Sunday you're probably more likely to get people staying out later since there is no run on Monday morning, but other people are likely to be going home after the run, so that might even out.

I can't work out whether there will be more or less people in the parks in the early morning though. The runners and their families will already be up, but some may choose to take it easy for a couple of hours after the run, go back to the hotel and freshen up, even have a nap (I know that's what my dad is hoping for!).

I arrive on the Tuesday before Labor Day, and we leave on the Sunday (only doing the 5k and 10k, not the half marathon). My plan is to hit the parks til closing on Tuesday, not go at all on Wednesday, go again on Thursday after the expo, but leaving by 8pm. On Friday we plan to hit DCA at opening for TSM and RSR FPs, leave for a rest, then go in again at our FP return time (hopefully late afternoon) and hit a few more rides while we're there, leaving by 8pm. Saturday we plan to go to DL at about 11am, in time to get a FP for Indy on our way through to our BB lunch ressie, and stay for as long as we can.

I have the same suspicions with Touring Plans, we are at the Parks 9/1 (Labor Day -- we arriving early afternoon probably) through 9/3 (Wednesday). TP has Labor day as: DL 2.9; DCA 6.5 -- this seems too low to me. In contrast, Is it Packed? has it as a "Yup, It's Packed" day.

For planning purposes, I am going to assume that both parks will be packed on Labor Day. We will probably spend most (if not all) of our Monday in DL and take it easy (i.e. I will not be Fastpass running or worrying about how many rides we can fit in). However, we will try to go for the 2 for 1 and catch RDCT and the later showing of F! (assuming my DD3 can handle staying up that late) as neither will be showing on Tuesday or Wednesday due to the low capacity/shorter hours.

Staying at Paradise Pier with my boyfriend from 9/24-9/29. He used to work for Disneyland but it will be my first trip! Any trips for a newbie like me? He 'knows it all' of course haha but I like outside opinions. We are in our late 20s and work for WDW currently, and I certainly want to everything possible.

Excited to hear feedback. Everyone enjoy their September trips!
