September 8, 2014 - Disney Wonder

I know it is more than tea...just to cheap to do something like that LOL

Victoria is very nice...just wish it wasn't so expensive to get too from Vancouver. We go to Tofino every year (west side of the island).

I doubt we will be getting off the ship though. This cruise is about enjoying the ship and all things Disney...have I mentioned I am a Disney fan? LOL

Looking forward to meeting everyone and really enjoying the facebook page. Allows a bit more chatting about stuff.

Stefani

Lol, most locals are too cheap to do the Empress more than once or twice! :rotfl:

Something I have yet to see that is on my must do list is watching orcas in the wild. I didn't see any in Alaska. How successful are the tours from Victoria?

After all those link, I'm starting to think a I need 3 weeks in Victoria. :lmao:

I rarely recommend shore excursions through the cruiseline, but this might be one that you would consider doing through the cruiseline (if they have it). I personally love the show in San Diego, so what more does one need? LOL

I've never done a whale watching tour but I have seen whales a number of times on the BC ferries going to Vancouver.

I looked into tours here and they all claim around 90% sightings. Just know that the tours are not an inexpensive thing to do, they all cost $100+ per person!

Hi there,

I just booked this cruise. It will be me and my husband. We are from SoCal about 40 miles east of LA. I am interested in participating in the FE.

Welcome...I will be working on an FE later on. We do have a facebook group if you are interested in joining. Email me at stefanihd at gmail dot com and I will send you the link. You don't have to be "friends" of anyone to join the group.

I am Stefani and my hubbie is Doug. We are from Vancouver. Only 1 way air for this cruise.

Hey everyone. We are jumping ship from this cruise to a 4-night on Magic in January. I missed a week of grad school to go on the WBPC this past spring and I can't justify doing it again. We're visiting my folks in TN for the holidays so I'm surprising my husband and kids with the cruise for Christmas. Since we can drive to FL from there it's actually cheaper than this repo, which required us to add on significant travel expenses.

I hope y'all have a wonderful time!

We are booked for this cruise after booking and canceling two other cruises trying to get something to work with our daughters college schedule. This will be my (Trish) 3rd Disney cruise, hubby's(Adrian) 2nd Disney cruise our adult daughter's (Steffanie) 1st Disney cruise. I am such a bad parent for going on previously without her! We are all very big Disney fans are super excited. Please count us all in for the FE!!

Welcome to the group. If anyone is interested in the facebook group, let me know. Will work on a rollcall list later

I haven't seen anything about a FE exchange. Is anyone in charge of it? I want to join in!:)

I will organize one, but no sense working on that until next year sometime. People can cancel and stuff before that. Feel free to join the facebook group if you want, or email me if you want more information. I have posted my email on here in a few posts.

By the way, I know what I am making for the FE gift already. If you are on the facebook group page, you will know what it is. Also I will probably cap the group and do another group if it is too big, so that a person doesn't have to make 50 gifts LOL. I know I like to bring a limited amount of luggage along and I am sure I am not the only one.

Stefani

I can't afford to pack extra luggage so am still unsure about playing at all...

The last one we did, it wasn't too bad...all gifts where fairly small. It didn't take up much room. I am with you though...why pay for extra luggage. It is why the one I was involved in had 3 groups. Also we did per family instead of each individual person, but that is up to each person on how they want to do it. I think our group capped at 15 - 20 families, and so we only had to bring about 17 gifts (one for each family). I liked doing it that way because can you imagine having to make 40 gifts? EEKK!!!

Hi guys! I'm back after a crazy few months of getting DH back from deployment, then moving cross-country back to California :) I'm almost finished unpacking/getting settled and ready to uber plan and obsess again:lmao:

Welcome back...still a shade over a year to go...so don't plan too hard LOL

Browsing the picture of the day thread, have seen several pics of Golden Gate Bridge.

We don't have a San Fran stop on our itinerary, so I'm assuming we won't have any reason to pass under it. Never cruised before, so maybe a stupid question. Will we be close enough even to see land? Or are sea days usually too far out to see anything?

I was on last year's Pacific Coastal. We only had rare glimpses of land on sea days. In fact, we had a lot of fog on several days. Real pea soupers, too. At least one morning my 'wake up call' was the ship's fog horn.
You're correct, we won't have any reason to pass under the Golden Gate Bridge, but will pass under the Lion's Gate Bridge in Vancouver almost immediately after we get underway.

Thanks for the info.

Sea days are usually too far out to see any land. Especially for coastal cruises.

Just about getting to the one year mark...YIPEE LOL
