September 7, 2014 Dream Cruise!

Yay! Have you cruised with Disney before?
This will be my 6th and my boyfriends first. My first time on the Dream though!

Great! There's a ton of things to learn and do, this is a good itinerary as well :)
Feel free to ask about anything and I'll do my best!

where do i even start.
our dd's will be 4 and 1 we are going to be sending them to the small world and oceaneer club i jusat dont know when the best times are.
me and my wife will both be 28 and want some alone time in the day and go to some clubs at night also dont know the best times. how dressed up do the people get on pirate night. how dressed up do people get to go to pink, skyline or other clubs.

how old are you and your b/f and what are you guys planing on doing

I would have to say that the best times are going to be varied for the kids clubs. Depending on what is going on around the ship each day and what is going on at the kids clubs. I don't have any children so this is a tougher one for me. I'm fairly certain that they will feed any meals to your children as well if you and wife wanted to Palo brunch or dinner.
The kids will probably be in the clubs a lot more than you think, simply because there will be so many things going on that they'll be having too much fun there! But you can check them in and out freely, they'll each have a bracelet to wear for the club. You can probably find a few threads specific to this.

Pirate night- everyone does something different. You'll see complete costumes with make up and jewelry and people not dressed up at all. At dinner on pirate night you'll get a half bandana that's red and has pirate Mickey.
We will probably just wear black and red with some cheap dollar store jewelry :)
The fireworks are fun and I'm sure we will be outside to do those but the pirate deck party is packed! Definitely will be fun for the kids to see the characters and dance though :)
We also usually purchase some glow sticks for pirate night and take with us. Temporary tattoos are popular with kids :)

You'll definitely want to swing by each night club at least once, we went during the day to get pictures of each, Skyline being my favorite. They each also have their own signature drinks.
However, they are not very big so I imagine that they can get pretty crowded at night? I wasn't quite 21 on our last sailing (2 weeks before my birthday) so I didn't hit the clubs at night, something I want to do this time.

On the sea day there should be some alcohol tastings, martini, champagne, vodka , etc were offered on our last trip, but we had 3 at sea days. We will definitely be doing these, even with the small per person charge. Everyone says they're informative and a lot of fun.

A great tip that we do each cruise is pack our own reusable cup, a tumbler or the big ones with straw and lid work well too, any kind you want really. The drink stations are on the pool decks and are free all the time, but the paper cups provided are so small! Bring your own glass and fill it up for the day, can also take off and use at Castaway Cay.
Also, if you purchase the DCL souvenir cup on the first day when they're trying to hand everyone drinks- use that to get filled when purchasing your alcoholic drinks on board. Without that cup you'll be give 12 oz, but if you give them that cup (which is 16 oz) they will fill it up!

Carry your IDs with you, they often check at the adult pool and the adult beach at Castaway Cay if you go there- both which are wonderful.

Jacob has never cruised before so I'm not entirely sure what all he will be wanting to do, we will probably be playing it mostly by ear and just relaxing most of the time- definitely doing dinners and the shows each day.

There are always family activities going on throughout the evenings before and after dinner, but I love the nightly shows. I haven't really ever seen a bad one. The welcome show is pushing it, but also packs in a lot of information for people unfamiliar with the ship.

You can pack your own snacks for the kids to take! And avoid having to buy popcorn each night :)

We just booked this cruise as well! We were on this EXACT cruise this year and booked another while on board. We were hoping to do a 7 night Western on the Fantasy, but we talked some friends who have never cruised into coming with us and they said it would be too much for their first time. *sigh* Oh well, any cruise is better than no cruise, right? And, it will be a lot of fun to have our friends on board!

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :beach:
Have a great cruise!

AHHHHH SO EXCITED!
305 days!!!

Not like I'm keeping a daily counter at work or anything.... :joker:

hello everyone! My boyfriend and I will be on this cruise, and its his first cruise ever, i'm so excited!!! I'm not allowed to talk to him about it anymore though, because he said I am "sucking all of the surprises and fun out of it"..... Rude. :crazy2:

We'll be cruising with linked ressies with my parents, because it will be their 37th anniversary. Aww. Cute, right? Lol. :scared:

I'm thrilled a Thread has finally been made, i thought we were going to be the only 4 on the ship for awhile there!! :scared:

Anyways, can't wait to get to know all of you wonderful Disers. <3 :cool1:

BTW, this is my 6th DCL cruise, 4th on the Dream. And my other half (bc he knows I'm the better part :thumbsup2) will be 24 & 25 respectively once we cruise.

Woo hoo!! More people!! This will be my first time on the Dream, but have been on all the other ships. It will also be my boyfriend's first cruise and my 6th :)
We will be 22 by the time the cruise rolls around.
Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

OH very cool! :ccat:
The Dream is a very beautiful ship. I absolutely love it. I have yet to go on the Fantasy, but I'm hoping to book a dummy date next year for a western. :cool1:

Hopefully we'll be able to hang out some time during the course of the cruise! :woohoo::woohoo:

Are you allowed to talk to your boyfriend about the cruise? I'm not. :sad2: Not as often as I have been at least. :rotfl:

Oh, I talk about it. A LOT. But I don't think he listens very much ;)

He's more stuck on the fact that "its a Disney cruise, I'm not a kid, I just don't think I'll like it"

Which is complete and utter nonsense! That's how most of our cruise conversations go lol!

Haha. That's so funny. Yeah, he's good on the fact he's accepted my slight obsession with Disney, so he just lets me ramble on. Sometimes you can see him zone out a little, but that's ok because I do the same thing to him with his pool obsession lol.

Give them both a couple drinks, and I'm pretty sure they'll be perfectly fine with the fact it's a Disney cruise. Or stick them in line for a Princess photo. :rotfl2:

I've never used the Dismeets to make friends before the cruise before, I'm a little excited to get to know someone clearly as awesome as me!!! :rotfl: :wave2:

I haven't used the threads to meet up with anyone for cruises before- but my mom has. I started this one in hopes of finding someone to sit with at dinner so we didn't get stuck with a family with small kids and nothing in common.

And maybe some friends to hit up the clubs with :)

They're actually REALLY good when it comes to putting like families together. I went on a cruise with my mom last year, and we were put at a table with 3 other pairs of women: older sisters, a mother/daughter(older) and 2 friends roughly my age. I mean, I know it's harder to pair the age difference of my mother and I at a table, but I'm sure you'll have good luck. :goodvibes

Do you have main or second seating? What's your fave menu?

Right on more people to hopefully meet. my wife and i will both be 28 at the time of the cruise and are looking at meeting up with some people around the pool or the clubs when we ditch the kids at the kids clubs. this is both our first ever cruise. we will also be with the grandparents and the great grands as well and we all know you cant do everything with them.
hope to get to know some of you over the next 298 days.
:thumbsup2
