September 30, 2012 - "To San Francisco and Beyond"

Hey guys, I know I'm late to the party but we just booked. It's going to be me, Justin, and my friend Susie. This will be Susie's first Disney cruise experience and my second, we took a western Caribbean on the Fantasy in June. We are both from southern California and go to Disneyland almost every week. Been reading all the post and I am so excited. Hopefully we can meet up with you guys at some point. We LOVE to pin trading, anyone else on here traders ? Also I read that some of you are coming in early and hitting up DL, that Friday before our cruise is the first Mickeys not so Scary Halloween Party. We're going to this event and would love to meet up with any fellow cruisers. Can't wait to here from you guys, only 16 days left

My dd and I also pin trade and plan on bringing some pins. I collect vinylmation pins, DCA, and Carsland pins and dd collects "baby" characters. We have quite a collection, but I need to get on Ebay to add extras so we can trade for the ones we want.

Unfortunately, we won't be going to DL before our cruise. We just got back last Monday from a quick weekend trip. DD will be missing a week of school for the cruise, so she can't afford to miss any more this year.

Cruise docs came yesterday ....... I feel like I have so little time and so much to do. Guess I should get busy since time is creeping up so fast!

I love pins... I think I'm a pin buyer more than a trader. I've got to see what I have. Mostly I collect DCL pins so I rarely trade them away. I pick up random pins to trade at the DCL officers' trading event.

Hey, thanks we will def make sure to meet everyone. I just got a new batch of traders not too long ago and I also tend to buy and hoard WAY more then I ever trade lol. I have to miss a few days of school too but I told all my professors what I was doing and they moved test and everything lol.

Can't wait for the officer pin trading night, it was AWESOME when we did it on the fantasy... We just kept going in circles and got whatever we wanted. I would live to post a pic of the pin that they made for this cruise but I need to figure out how to post on here lol

Hi everyone. It's been a busy week here. We have so much to do before we get on the plane in12 days!!!

Our cruise docs arrived this week. I sewed my fish extender today. It turned out pretty cute I think. I have the kids costumes for pirate night pretty much sorted.

I still need to finish off my FE gifts. They are almost there.

Pretty sure we are going to head to DL on the Friday.

Hey Gang!

Bracelets for the whole FE group are done, just making extras from those on the board who aren't able to join in the FE fun. FE gifts are 80% finished too. Just trying to tie up some loose ends and get my packing lists made! Leaving our 3 teenage sons home with my dad, so trying to figure out meals etc. for them.
We are getting soooo close DDs had a call from Goofy this morning to remind them (like they were going to forget! )

Has anyone here ever sent their FE gifts etc. ahead to the cruise terminal? Thinking of sending FEDEX next week, but kind of afraid of what would happen if it got lost. Any thoughts?

Tip: This is my first cruise but several people have mentioned that you will want an air freshener for the bathroom. At my local 99 cent store I found a scented oil warmer with a night light. Cost me $2 because I had to buy the oil separately I had been looking all over for one so I was happy to run across this one because I really wanted one with a light.

Pin Trading: My DH and I love pin trading. We used to attend the Pin trading events at DLR but haven't gone in a few years. I collect Pooh Bear and my DH likes Pirates and Tink. I am looking forward to the officers trading night it sounds like fun and a good picture opportunity.

Hi I am the DD Nicole and my son just asked me to do some pin trading on this cruise I would love to chat with you guys more about how this works

Pin trading is easy. On the ship, cast members in the shops, at guest services, excursions desk, outside of the restaurants, anywhere really, may have on a lanyard with Disney pins on the lanyard. If you see one that you like, you may trade with the cast member. You can trade up to 2 times per lanyard. Usually, at least one night of the cruise, the officers get together and pin trade with you.

sounds awesome, I was reading the past threads and got really excites about the brackets, unfortunately because we just booked we missed out on the FE but I was hoping we could get two brackets for Susie and I so that we can spot all you guys on the ship

The purpose of my post is to be sure that people are aware of the freeway closure, aka "Carmageddon II", is coming the weekend of the 29th. This is well north of the port of LA on the 405, but if any of you were planning on driving in from NorCal or anywhere else where you'd be passing through the closed section please plan ahead and figure out an alternate route. I don't have enough posts to post a link, but just search for it and you'll get the details...

With all these posts regarding pin trading and so many people that trade and collect...I am going to bring more pins than I was planning too.
I like Mickey, especially pie-eyed and the holiday pins.
