Sorry for all the basic questions, it's our first cruise!
We just read the "What should I wear to dinner?" FAQ and hubby is not keen on the dress code... will he be out of place w/ a dress shirt and tie or does he really need to bring a suit jacket? Besides not loving to dress up, he's not happy about the extra space that dress shoes will take up, LOL. And he's worried about the suit jacket wrinkling badly in our luggage.
And speaking of clothes, do you think we'll want to wear shorts and short sleeves or pants and light sweaters? I guess if I were just going to SoCal, I'd bring a mix but I was wondering if the ships tend to be on the cooler side or ??
Thanks!

I know it costs more but I'm leaning towards private transport of some kind to get from LAX to the Port. Of course, I'm looking for the lowest price possible in that category. Any recommendations from personal experience? TIA.
I discovered that you can have the laundry do "press only" much better than worrying about my dress or his suit.
Many men just had on shirt and tie for formal and semi formal night.
You don't have to sign up for dine and play. If you have late seating the kids club will come down to pick up all the kids.
Thanks. That's what I wanted to know- if hubby could 'get away with' only wearing shirt and tie and leave the suit jacket home. He doesn't love to dress up anyway and when you add the fact that we're paying for every bag to fly there/home, we're worried about space, too. As it is, he's not happy he has to bring dress shoes (again, a space issue). Speaking of shoes, what do people wear during the day (not dinner, I know that's dress up) when they're just hanging out on the ship?
Is the dress code the same for Palo for Brunch?
ress code at Palo on all cruises:
Men: dress pants and shirt or jacket
Women: dress or pantsuit
Please no jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes
It is the same from brunch or dinner
And speaking of dress code...has anyone tried the tux rentals?
Thanks for your reply!
Can you tell me more about this? Is it like a service to 'send out' your formal clothes for pressing? How do you do it and how much is it? Thanks!
Disney offers dry cleaning / laundry just like a nice hotel.
There was a statement printed at the bottom of the form about press only. In 2009, it was 1/2 of the cleaning price listed for the individual item. I don't remember the long list of prices and items... but if cleaning a specific garment was $10, press only was $5. It seems to me I had 3-4 items done under $20.

stsomewhere said:We always get grief about cruising too much. We like to cruise at least once a year. Preferably 2 times.
It makes us happy and it is our families preferred vacation.
My husband can keep his cell phone off and not be able to be contacted for work.
I don't have to cook or clean.
I live just south of Detroit. So, it is a long drive to WDW or a cruise port.
Next summer, we are planning a two week driving cross country trip.
My daughter thinks that we are going to stop at DL during the trip.

LOL,
This is going to be our 3rd cruise this year with 2 booked for next year (Caribbean and Baltic - both on Celebrity) We haven't told to many people that this vacation is another cruise as they will think we are nuts.
Agree that cruises are a great way to relax - no phone, no Internet, no trying to decide where to eat and how to get where ever you are traveling to.
