Hello all,

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. Charly (our daughter) had surgery on Monday, it was a little unexpected but long story short she now has a new set of tubes and her adenoids have been removed all in all she is doing well...

I have a question is anyone staying near Disney? If so what are you doing for transport to the pier?
Does anyone know if there is a rental car location at San Pedro pier?
As you can tell we are still trying to figure out the hotel/transportation.

So excited, see you all in 31 days ;-).

Hope Charly is feeling well. She's 1, right?

As far as transport we fly into Long Beach on Saturday morning. We're renting a car overnight then returning it to the Long Beach airport and taking a shuttle to DCL. Enterprise has a San Pedro Location but the drop fee was hefty. Hertz Local Edition locations are closesd on Sundays. When we get back we shuttle back to the airport, pick up a car again and play until we return it at flight time. We either going with Super Shuttle or Payless Airport Shuttle

Payless has $10 and $12 specials from LAX, Long Beach and John Wayne airports to the cruise port. Not sure what the DLR to DCL would be?? I just ran the price on SuperShuttle and it looks to be $135 for you family.

What a lot of logistics for something that should be easy.

I told my DD Sabrina I'd find out who the other DIStweens are that she might be able to meet at The Edge, a fun center on the Disney Wonder exclusively for tweens—kids ages 11 to 14 years.

So far I have...

• Casa Martinez - niece Jerianne (12)
• BinkYABT - daughter Kaci (13) and Chinese exchange student young man _______ (12)

Looks like you haven't missed anyone BinkYABT (Joni) will not have an exchange student this semester, so just her and the two kids (Kyle 16 and Kaci 13)

AHA! I think I found it- a box w/ a pic of Donald Duck that says "Reservation Summary"! When I open it, there's a line for "Stateroom", which currently doesn't have a # yet. Will keep you posted when we get it, I know, probably not for another few weeks... I honestly don't care what room we get, I'm just a planner and like to know things in advance!

My dd's name is Sierra. she's very outgoing and friendly. They will all have a blast together.

Thanks for your encouragement. MIL is progressing well. Much better than expected, and may go to rehab tomorrow. She is blessed with a strong constitution.
Lise - lol w/ the utensils - we always say pass me a fork and knife. Gotta love the Boston accent - I have lived here for 33 years so have picked it up a little ,
Happy labor day to you all -beautiful weather in NE and we are heading to our cottage in Maine for a breather - it has been an intense week - from diagnosis to surgery in less than a week.

Agreed! The devil is in the details! As for Charly, she is 1 and recovering nicely (whew).

I found this post about Disney Stores in San Diego on another thread...

There are 2 Disney Stores in San Diego, one at Fashion Valley Mall (the closer one) and Las Americas Outlet mall near the Mexico border. Both are accessible by the trolley.

There used to be one at Horton Plaza in downtown, which is within walking distance of where we dock, but I don't see it on their listing.

The Las Americas store shows that it's an OUTLET. Do any of our San Diego locals know if this is worth making the journey?

LA South Bay / Long Beach Area - There are also multiple stores within a reasonable radius on the San Pedro cruise terminal...
Torrance (Del Amo Fashion Center, 7 mi), Lakewood (Lakewood Center, 11 mi), etc.

San Francisco - There is a "Magical New Store Design" on Stockton Street about a mile from the ship.

The Disney outlet basically has the same merchandise as a regular Disney store but with a section of older merchandise. I have sometimes seen items from the park but not much. There lots of other outlet shops too so if you are a shopper then it might be worthwhile to go there and swing by the Disney outlet but I wouldn't make a trip out of it.
