September 30, 2012 - "To San Francisco and Beyond"

Just got home from our WDW. It was not a total wash out due to Issac. It did rain the first part of the week. Second part- very hot and humid.

My kids decided that they were really done with WDW this time. They were a little bored with the rides and shows. We went to Cedar Point earlier this summer and they rode the big thrill rides and coasters.

We still had a good time though. We hit all the parks, water parks and quest. My husband and son managed to golf 3 times.

I bought my FE gifts while I was down there. I am very excited about them. I was hoping that the list had not changed too much while I was gone.

Still no cabin #.

Thanks for the heads up. I still need to set a shuttle too, maybe Payless Airport Shuttle ? They had some good reviews and a good price from Long Beach, John Wayne and LAX Airports . If that doesn't work out, I always think of SupperShuttle as a good reliable company.

Thanks. Yeah, I have an email out to Payless. I want to see if we can afford private transportation w/ 'meet and greet' to reduce my stress and hassle. Also, we need booster seats and it seems most companies don't offer them. I know if we went w/ a shuttle, it wouldn't be subject to car seat laws but I'd prefer the convenience of a private van, which are subject to car seat laws (at least all this is according to my understanding from what I've read on the internet...) Anyway, I'll let you know what I find out from them...

Hello all,

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. Charly (our daughter) had surgery on Monday, it was a little unexpected but long story short she now has a new set of tubes and her adenoids have been removed all in all she is doing well...

So glad to hear that Charly's surgery went well and she is on the road to a full recovery.

See you in a few weeks...

All transportation is booked. Flying Jet Blue from SFO to Long Beach and taking Payless Shuttle. I emailed them my info. Just waiting for their call. The reviews were great and price couldn't be beat! I've been doing the happy dance all day at work.:)

Tonight... ABC Family is showing Toy Story at 6/7C and Toy Story 2 at 8p/9C and 10p/11C. I know we all have the DVDs, but there's just something about watching it "live" ...I think this will be a fun way to finally tell DD about the secret Pixar theme!!!

Watching Toy story right now. Thanks for the heads up. I have them on dvd too but I enjoy watching them live as well..

I told my DD Sabrina I'd find out who the other DIStweens are that she might be able to meet at The Edge, a fun center on the Disney Wonder exclusively for tweens—kids ages 11 to 14

So far I have...
  • 2 princess 3 princes - twin daughters Madison (11) and Paige (11)
  • Casa Martinez - niece Jerianne (12)
  • BinkYABT - daughter Kaci (13) and Chinese exchange student young man _______ (12)
  • KirkAliciasMom - daughter ______ (11)
  • LiseG - daughter Sabrina (12)
Who have I missed?

Lise

Perhaps they can all meet at our meet and greet!

Whoo hooo! I'm so excited to find out we have an ocean view room. #2096! I was expecting a inside cabin so it's a great surprise! It's midship too!:)

That's great news :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Agreed! The devil is in the details! As for Charly, she is 1 and recovering nicely (whew).

Thanks for all of the information!
Good to hear she's healing well.

Hello everyone....Happy Labor Day weekend.
We just booked this trip this AM. Never been on a Disney ship although have been on many others. We just wanted to sample the product. Have no children.

I worked at the Mouse House (Disneyland) in college. We as we still like to "play" we have also had Disneyland/ Calif Adv. Passports for many years since it is a quick drive up the freeway.

You two will have a great time. Hope you join us at the Meet & Greet and the Pub Crawl!

Lisa,
Is there anywhere to register for the Meet and Greet like on another website?
And if not, where and what time?

I saw a KIDS ONLY thread on another Pixar cruise and thought it was a GREAT idea. I know my DD will LOVE to know other DISkids who are going to be onboard before we set sail. They can connect at the Meet & Greet and maybe stay friends well after we disembark! :dance3:

KIDS ONLY - To San Francisco and Beyond - Sept 30, 2012
Here the link to the thread...http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=46031732#post46031732

Not only will it be a good way to make sure they have buddies, maybe we’ll get some grown up time! :cool1:

:artist: Went online and got some Mick & Minnie graphics for our cabin door sign and cabin calendar...and am dragging out my Disneyland sweatshirts and Ts....ha ha!

Got the Meet and Greet info....thanx

For the 2 Kiwi families here....I am a retired flt. attendant and I used to fly to NZ all the time as well as OZ and love it "down under". We have friends that live in the Birkenhead area of Auckland and spent 3 fab weeks exploring your country with them one year!

:hourglass 28 days to go!

How many formal nights are there? I heard 1, I think. Just wanted to know what to pack. Thanx Mar~

There will be one formal night and one semi formal night. (And one pirate night ;) )

Oh neat! My dad used to work as an engineer for Air NZ. We live in Albany, very close to Birkenhead! I'm glad you enjoyed your time down here! I have my fingers crossed that DCL will sail here one day. Dreams are free.

Looks like people on the Cal Coast cruise on the 16th are starting to get their GT assignments, so we may be getting ours in about 2 weeks time! :cool1: (Can't be much later really...)

Just wanted to drop in and say Happy Labor Day All!!!!

Kevin and I have been making/getting our FE's ready... Just a little FE sweat shop happening today... ;-)

More questions from a Disney Cruise dummie here, what is a GT and an FE?

Also, which restaurant, if you have been on the Wonder, is the adults-only? And is there a nominal fee for that?

Believe it or not, we have cruised before and often.....just never on Disney. :confused3

Which night is formal and which is semi-formal??

Wenuwish.....I have flown on Air NZ...they took us down to Tahiti to work a Princess charter back to LA on one of our planes when I was flying and they put us all up in Business Class in the bubble....NICE!

Hi Mar,

Don't feel bad. I had no clue until our 4th cruise when I found the DISboards. We've been aboard Magic 4x, this is our first on Wonder.

GT is Guarantee. It's possible to book with a guaranteed class vs a specific catagory. For example, GTI... guaranteed inside cabin. You receive your cabin assignement close to cruise time and it could be a 10 or 11...or an upgrade to something better:cool1:

FE is a Fish Extender. Next to the door on the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic is a little fish-shaped hook. The FE is a gift holder of sorts. On the DISboards a FE group will be set up within the meet group and a gift exchange is set up between those cabins. The gifts are secretly placed in the FE hung outside participating cabins. The FE sign-up deadline for our cruise is passed already, this is necessary so folks time to make buy the gifts.

Also, which restaurant, if you have been on the Wonder, is the adults-only? And is there a nominal fee for that? ?
Palo is the restaurant and it's awesome. Dinner and Brunch are available. Fee is $20 PP. Make sure you dress accordingly. You may be able to book online. If not, you can make a reservation right after we board if there are tables available. Link: Palo - Disney Wonder
