September 30, 2012 - "To San Francisco and Beyond"

Hi Megan- I'm working on my gifts and I have a question for you... so are you the only "kid" (under 18) in your room and then Rhi and Shirley are the "adults" (over 18)? Are each of you participating separately or as a whole stateroom? I'm still trying to figure out if my budget can handle separate gifts for every person or if I need to do one per room, or one per kid (but something for adult couples when there are no kids in the room) or ?? Thanks!

Hey,

Deb thankyou so much for doing the FE spreadsheet! Its going to be so helpful when delivering the FE gifts!! pixiedust:

The spreadsheet says "Meganyvemarie & wenuwish - Megan" But it is supposed to read "Meganyvemarie - Megan & wenuwish - Rhi"

Just letting everyone know incase you need our names for FE :)

Quick question. Has anyone received their documents from Disney Cruise Line yet. Our stateroom has not been assigned yet. I have checked everyday but still nothing. Thanks:confused:

No documents here either ... and we had an assigned stateroom when we booked. (but hoping for an upgrade) I guess it's just early still :confused3

We will be participating together in the FE Exchange :)
Deb put me in the adult category on the spreadsheet which I am more than happy with :)

Got it. So will all 3 of you be participating individually or as a single stateroom? Thanks!

Wait, I think I figured it out! You're participating together as a single unit. I didn't read your last reply carefully enough... sorry I'm making it complicated! :-)

Please help me out w/ my tip budget... so for this cruise, the recommended (auto-tipping unless you change it) is $84/person for the week, which breaks down (each person, each day) to: Room Host = $4, Dining Room Server = $4, Asst Dining Room Server = $3, and Head Server = $1.

Is the Room Host the person who cleans our room or is that someone I need to tip entirely separately?

I figure the Dining Room Server is the person we'll interact w/ most and I've read we may or may not see the Head Server, which is normal since that job is mostly 'behind the scenes'. What does the Asst Dining Room Server, do? Will we see that person/interact with him or her?

Besides a tip (presumably cash on delivery) for poolside service and room service, what else is it customary or appropriate to tip for? Someone who helps w/ bags, maybe? The counselors at the kid's club? For the counselors, how does one give the tip (cash in an envelope that I bring myself at the end or ??).

Also, if you decide to tip extra to the 4 prepaid folks, I understand this can be done but adding cash to the tipping envelopes or going to GS and doing it there. I'm wondering though, what is the general range that people pay for exceptional service? I know it can theoretically be any amount but I'm just wondering if there's a generally accepted ballpark amount- like, "When I get exceptional service, I add another 10% to the standard amount." or something like that (I don't know, I totally made that number up!)

Thanks!

I'll answer part of your question...
Room Host = houskeeper ... cabin-keeper :)
Dining Room Server = your main server. No matter which dining room you rotate to, he or she will be ready to serve you - you'll interact every dinner. You might see them in passing if you choose a dining room for lunch.
Asst Dining Room Server = the other half of your nightly serving team. Generally handles beverages and breads - you'll interact every dinner
Head Server = we've generally seen our Head Server most nights as we enter the dining room

Please help me out w/ my tip budget...

Let me introduce myself, I am "Hollywood Glitter's" mom. I will be on this cruise too. Our first cruise was last November (Mexican Riviera). We had a great time. You and your family will have a blast. As of tips go, we got such an exceptional service that we added a few more dollars. In addition to the tips we gave them a bag of candies and other goodies. If you can, bring a Thank You card for your cabin host. He or she is the person that you will see the most. They will take care of you at anytime. If you ask for ice once you will have ice everyday.

Great- thanks for the ideas!

Hello...

I received a PM from Bostonluvs2cruise that they are going to have to
pull out of the FE participation.

Please update your FE spreadsheet.

Thank you...
