September 30, 2012 - "To San Francisco and Beyond"

Thanks!

I'm going to be very straight forward right now. If we do a designated night thing I'm not going to do it. Once the boat leaves port I'm going to be on cruise time:sail:. So expect my gifts to appear any time during the trip! :goodvibes

How many people are traveling to the cruise (basically not locals)? I'm trying to plan out gifts that will travel well?

:worship: Your thoughful gifts will be appreciated any day, any time :worship:

We're flying in :dumbo:

My sister and I have a 13 hour flight back home to New Zealand ! :worried:
But it will be worth it for the cruise!!
I'm so excited only 52 days until we fly out!

Hello fellow cruisers...

Have any of you ever cruised with a one year old? I know we need to book nursery time I am just not sure when. Our daughter goes to bed so early (we are lucky to keep her up past 7), does anyone know how late the nursery is open for? Kevin and I were talking we would like to see some of the shows just not sure about the little one.

Also I need advice on bringing her car seat, when we have traveled before we have had a rental car. This time we will be doing a shuttle to get to the pier and we are planning on going to Seaworld in San Diego and probably taking a cab. Does anyone know do we need her carseat?
This whole car seat issue has me a little confused... Not to mention I am pretty sure we will need to book a second cabin for all of our baby gear ha!

So excited to meet everyone... Have a wonderful Sunday

Hi all,
We are Brian and Michele and this is our first Disney Cruise - :wave2:and we are very excited to try something new. Celebrating just being on vacation and meeting some new friends!
Does anyone have suggestions for excursions in Ensenada? We have been to San Fran and San Diego several times and have favorite things that we want to do, but really are stumped with Ensenada.

Looking forward to meeting all of you -
Michele

DesertGal, thank you for the first hand account of your experience. We've booked our nursery time last night and will plan on lugging along the carseat. Certainly better to have it and not need it compared to needing it and not having it!

Thanks again!

Yikes. Forgive my post. Obviously 30 min is a half hour!!! Hahahaha

I just had surgery and obviously shouldn't post while under the influence LOL

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Hello All…

I wanted to pass along that if you are looking for a rental car in San Diego,
Advantage Rental car has a shuttle that will take you from the pier to their location (Which is not far from the pier).

I am guessing this is the case with other agencies as well but only checked with Advantage as they had the best price I could find on a daily rental ($26 including taxes and fees).

Happy Tuesday All :)

Thank you so much for the info on the rental car. We are booked with Budget as we have used them in the past in SD, but am not sure if they provide a shuttle. I will contact them and if not, will reach out to Advantage.

Welcome Aboard or should I say "Welcome Home"

I became a DVC member about 2 years ago and I just love it.

The Fe gifts are really whatever you feel comfortable with. Some people only do 1 gift per cabin and something small for the children. Some people do 1 gift per person and some do a couple usually based on themes. Below is what my mother and I gave on our last cruise. For her next cruise she is doing 1 small welcome gift per room and 1 larger gift per person. I would tell you what it is but she hasn't left for that cruise yet. For this cruise we are still working on the gifts so I won't reveal any details.

The best thing to do is just make a budget for your self and work within it. Also since you are traveling think about how much room you wan't to set aside in your suitcase for the gifts you are bringing.

Thank you for the Welcome Home - we love Disney and have been very happy with our timeshare. We bought it sight unseen and have always said that is was the best non-investment that we ever made. We have traveled all over with the Concierge collection and have even been to Disneyland Paris. We thought is was time to try the cruise.

What fabulous and creative gifts you gave out!!! I am sure that everyone felt pampered with your thoughtfulness. I am still up in the air on participating. It looks like fun, but with travelling 3000 miles I need to think about space. Of course there are small things that would be fun, and not take up much room. Still mulling it over.
Look forward to meeting you.

Hi Disney-ite,
Thanks for the warm welcome. Looking forward to meeting all of you.
Still thinking on the FE gift exchange. Will definitely let you know prior to the deadline.

We're DVC Members as well! My DD loves Disney Cruises... she's been doing them since she was not quite 4 and had no vote. After that she wanted to go all the time. "But Honey, we live in Oregon and the ship is in FL." Try explaining that to a 4 year old. This will be our 5th adventure on DCL and first on the West Coast. We've also sailed Royal Caribbean, Norwegian and a Greek cruise line. Disney is the best! pirate:

FE Exchange - Each cabin contributes one time, so you'll receive presents every day from a few cabins. [I stand corrected... some awesome folks contribute lots of times] There is some great info on the first post of this thread.

Also here's an earlier post of mine regarding what might be found in your FE pixiedust:
[Lise

Lise,
Thanks, and Welcome Home. LOL with your 4 yr old. Sounds like our kids, but we were a little closer to Florida. The first time our 8 year old son set his eyes on our 2 bedroom Villa at OKW he said "This is better than home" - that pretty much sums it up. The DVC has been a wonderful non-investment for us. So many wonderful vacations over the years.
Some great gifts seem to be handed out for the FE and it is tempting to participate. Will have to give it a little thought. Will have to creative in my choices with having to travel 3000 miles.

Thanks!

I agree and don't want to do the designated day.:scared1: I know that means that you get a lot of FE deliveries on the earlier part of the cruise and none at the end but I just don't want the stress of having to stay on a specific schedule. :goodvibes:

We are booked for the Palo brunch at 11:30 as well on the first sea day :flower3:

Hello Disney-ite. We will hopefully see you at the Meet and Greet at 3pm Promenade Lounge day of sailing so will know each others faces when we arrive in Palo.

We're going at 11:30 on the Second Sea Day ~ Th, Oct 4th. You can tell us what you liked best ;)

We just love the brunch because you can 'graze' through your time there and try things you wouldn't normally see or want to pay for in a restaurant.

The amazing choice of nibble type things as well as cooked meals is fantastic. A great experience and you will love it.

Hi Everyone!

This is what I came up with. I hope you all like it.

Hollywood Glitter, you did a fantastic job!!!:cheer2::cheer2:
