September 30, 2012 Dream vacation

A question for those of you who have sailed on the Dream before - is there any caffeine free soda available at dinner? We usually do not let our kids drink soda except for special times and I thought a soda at dinner would be a treat. It definately would need to be caffeine free - at home they are only allowed caffeine free root beer as their "soda treat" - but Ii think the ship has Coke products only???

I'm pretty sure I've gotten a Sprite at dinner.

The lanyard list (taken from the roll call) is back open! I just found out that my lanyard supplier is giving me 75 lanyards! If you are interested in specialized lanyards for you and your cruising party, pkease give me the first names of everyone in your group!

If your names are not on the roll call list, then i do not have them and have not made your lanyards.
I would love the special lanyards if still available. You have all of our names but my DH, which is Mike :)

Just get 'em a double espresso and they'll be off to bed like little lambs!

Joking aside, I'd be willing to bet that you can get more than one type of caffeine-free drink on board. There are a lot of folks (my mom among them) who have an intolerance to caffeine, so I'd definitely ask the dining room staff about it.

I figure I can't post this enough...

Please ensure that I have a room number for you, so that I can deliver lanyards if we do not see each other at the airport, port, or meet and greet. It is very difficult to hunt down people---I have gone to guest services before, but it gets complicated!

I am "closing" our roll call list. This weekend I will be packing for our 9/22 Galveston cruise, so I will not have any time to work on the roll call list. I am printing out the roll call list to use for lanyards. You still have time to give me names and room numbers--I will simply just write them in on my master list that I have printed.

How to find me at the airport/port/meet and greet...

I will be wearing my Disney Dream maiden voyage t-shirt, and I will also be wearing a lanyard. My husband (clint) will most likely be wearing his maiden voyage t-shirt and hat (white ball cap) as well.

Here's a picture of us on the Dream (Clint is wearing his MV hat). I can't find one of us in our MV t-shirts, but I will keep looking...

Sarah, what a great idea to put your pic up! How did you do that? i'd try to put one up too if i could figure it out.
Kyle.

Perfect! A Sprite for the kids -

"Just get 'em a double espresso and they'll be off to bed like little lambs!"

And a double expresso for me :)

Sarah...we'll be on the lookout for you at the terminal. Have a wonderful time on your first leg cruise!!!!

At the top of the quick reply box (next to the font buttons and all that other stuff) there is an image of i think a mountain with yellow above it. Click on that and type or copy and past the URL for the image.

Just got back from watching Wishes from the balcony at the Contemporary. It's a great location to watch. Really got me in the Disney spirit.

Oooh sounds great!! we are thinking about watching from the Top of the World Tower at Bay Lake this time. I've heard that u have to get there rather early tho, so i'm not sure if i want to waste that time.

are u the one w the husband who works at disney? what does he do? (if that was a "yes")

Yes DH works for Disney. He is a trainer, for people, at animal kingdom. He is usually working with the characters or doing the parade.

Hi All! :wave2: My husband, the devious man that he is; surprised me with this cruise for our anniversary! I know I'm really late to the party so to speak and have no idea if any of the fun activities are still open.

This is my first cruise so I'm new to all of this and have been muddling through all the info. I think I'm doing ok for a first timer and with very little notice at that. We were in Cocoa Beach yesterday and stopped into the DU office and had a wonderful chat with Rob about a few things we should do and had a few questions answered. So far, DH has booked me a mani/pedi before the sailaway party and a 6pm Palo reservation for the first night. We aren't planning any shore excursions on Nassau as we both want to explore the ship and relax a bit. I think that will probably be the day that we use our rain forest spa passes.

DH did our online check in this morning and I'm starting to pack. I know swimwear and comfortable clothes for starters. I'm not thrilled with the idea of bringing workout clothes but if I'm determined not to bring home a few unwanted souvenirs around my waistline, they're a must. I have a nice dress for Palo. What else should I bring; costumes for pirate night, anything more formal than church attire?

:welcome: That's a "good" devious! We're celebrating our anniversary as well.

This cruise doesn't have a formal night, so I think church attire would be fine. You'll find lots of discussions about this topic! You'll also see a wide variety on pirate night. Some do nothing, some go all out in fabulous pirate attire. We fall somewhere in the middle - pirate-y t-shirts, bandanas (which Disney provided on our last cruise) and eye patches. You'll see it all - do what you feel comfortable with. pirate:

At least you haven't had the agony of waiting months for your cruise - that would be nice!

Welcome aboard, what a great surprise! Seems he's done lots of planning for you!

Welcome! Welcome to the cruise!! What a wonderful suprise!! Will it just be you and your husband cruising?

I am having special lanyards made for the cruise, and I still have some available if you'd like some. All I need is your first names and a room number in case we don't see each other at the port or at the meet and greet.

There is a meet and greet planned for 4:45ish (deck 12 starboard side, just above the pool). We hope to see you there!

There will be a semiformal/dress up optional night if you choose to do so, but I don't believe it is formal. Some people will be decked out in suits/tuxes and dresses, but others will be dressed more semi-formal. I would think that church attire would be just fine for the cruise.

There will be an assortment on pirate night--some all out costumes, some basic costumes, some people just go cruise casual, and some people will be dressed more casual.

We will most likely be staying on board in Nassau as well to explore the ship and have fun--ride the AquaDuck and play Midship Detective Agency game. We were thinking about getting off and walking to the fort and what not. We shall see.

Again, welcome aboard!!:cool1:

If you've looked through this thread, you may already know that we're planning a meet during/after the sail away party on deck 12, starboard. One of our fellow DISers is generously providing lanyards, so you may want to send her a private message and let her know your names, stateroom, etc. Glad to have you with us!

Thanks for the warm welcomes. I would love to attend the meet and greet to start putting faces with the names I've seen as I've perused the thread. We are leaving the kids behind this time so I can concentrated on having fun and relaxing. I would appreciate lanyards for DH (Vic) and myself (Noni). Our stateroom is 8546.

I almost wish I would've known we were doing this months ago. I feel like this is kind of rushed and it's hard to do a lot of research so I'm having to jut go with whatever comes up. It also means that I didn't have the time to come here and try to get to know the DISsers we're cruising with.

I saw there's a FE group that closed a couple of weeks ago but that there might be a few people who will have the ability to add extra goodies to their gifting list. I'm going to try to pick up stuff to gift to others and still participate in some way.

Two weeks!! I've never tried to put together a trip in that little time; especially to a destination and way of travel that I know so little about.

Thank you for the info! I will add you to the list.

The roll call list is now closed. I have printed the list, and any updates that need to be made (room numbers or adding names to your group) will be made on my printed version through Thursday (9/20).
