September 3, 2005 --- Who is going?

Drcell01...

Sounds fine. If we can board at 10AM it seems reasonable to meet at 12:30!

Adios!

This is our 3rd DCl cruise as well. We just sailed in April and we boarded at 11:45 and went to lunch then. Sounds good and I will call you when we get to port to see if we can connect for lunch.

We have one DD (16) but this cruise we are leaving her home. This is a romantic getaway for us.

Have anyone thought of a dis meet? We did this in April and it was alot of fun. We all wore lime green ribbons and met on deck 10 before the life jacket drill.

Lisa; I am so sorry for your loss. :grouphug:

I would be happy to go along with a DIS gathering - or if enough of us are on board for lunch we could assume this is our DIS meeting. Plus - as for what to wear - we are quite happy to go along with what ever the general consensus of folks dream up.

Does anyone have any agreement or alternatives to offer regarding what to wear? Are there any DIS t-shirts on sale online? Or may I suggest that we've been shopping the disney store on line - and we were about to buy matching Disney gear for all 4 of us - and I vaguely recall my spouse saying it was all on sale or clearance. PLUS - we could alternatively come up with other less involved ideas. EG - we could all circulate a basic design and we could make our own COPIES of this design if everyone feels they are good with craft coloring materials. They make some nice materials - colored vynle foam ink that can be drawn onto a t-shirt... and such. OR - we could circlate some designs and one or more of us could come up with stuff for other folks. This is not intended to be any sort of side line business (for profit) but rather a little idea that has been kicked up a notch in insanity! :smooth:

I might volunteer that it would be interesting to see how everyone copies a given common template of a design.

Oh well.... so much for my excessive exuberence!

Adios,

we'll be at the term by 10 am as well, since we are at the quality suites, cocoa. we got the last non-smoking room at the hotel when i called. i 'm just glad i didn't procrastinate any longer. we bought both the family outfits available online and in the disney store, so i'm not sure which one we'll be wearing for our boarding pic. i know dw is planning for this this time since we didn't get the pic last year. so we'll look for ya'll while we wait to board.

i noticed that the sponsor for this site has suggested they have $99 rates ar the Disney Swan and Floridian (?) for the dates before and after our sailing. The cut-off to book is the 18th! We may stay here for 2 nites preceeding the cruise. :earseek:

Or ... the have a nice looking suite hotel for $89.... otherwise we'll try hotwire. :rolleyes1

...prior to us meeting on the ship...

We were at a DIS meet last weekend in Allentown, PA with about 170 other Disney-fanatics. Here is a link to our table's picture. Our crew are people in the back row (going from right to left, me the pin trader, my DD, and my wife hiding behind the balloon strings).

Any one else have any Disney pics of their pirate crew???

Hello Fellow DISers: 49 days and counting down to September 3. (Actually 48 days for DH and I as we are leaving Detroit on Friday.) Just went through all our posts on this thread and there are 25 families. Just thinking that it would be fun to start thinking of a place/time to meet as a group. Any thoughts or suggestions? Any prior DIS meets that worked for prior DCL cruises? I was on the 6/16/05 Wonder and there was no DIS meet, although I met a couple of DISers throughout the too short 3 day cruise. Last year, on the 9/18/04 Magic, we had a DIS meet in the Promenade Lounge at 3pm which is after everyone has made reservations and before the life boat drill.

My DH and I are staying at the Cocoa Beach Holiday Inn Express the night before the cruise. Anyone else staying in CB Friday night? If so, perhaps we could have a pre-cruise gathering. We plan to be on the ship as soon as we're allowed to board. Would love to meet others at Parrot Cay. Just an FYI -- on the 6/16/05 Wonder at 12:15, Parrot Cay was not yet open for lunch.

As I was scrolling through the posts, I put together a list of those of us sailing on 9/3. In order of appearance on this thread (I hope I have not missed any DISers):

Thanks for putting that list together. It looks like we have a great group that is going on the cruise. I am game for any type of DIS meeting. Also, I can hardly wait!

Jan

Thanks for putting that list together. It makes it so much easier to keep track of all the great families. :wave2:

We're game for a dis meet. I really would like my DS (only child) to be able to get to know some other kids.

Jan,

What a great idea to put together a list. Thank you for doing it. If you'd like, you can combine xABearx and me (he's the DH). :)

Ginny

Mildly speaking....

.... I'm amazed we had so many DIS parties/families on the sailng. I was glancing at the number of visits our thread had (270) versus others - and we were sort of middlin' while some threads had 11,000+ hits (the Castaway Caye double dip). :rolleyes1

I guess if we tried to walk into Parrot Caye looking for seating for about 100 they would have to scramble to seat us all! :) So it would be much better to gather somewhere else.

The Promenade Lounge at 3PM sounds OK to us. We are not sufficiently familiar with the ships' precise routine on embarkation day to make reliable suggestions. So - as such we may not be able to meet for lunch at Parrot Caye - but I imagine the ship MUST have someplace open for a lunch - we'll have to ascertain what is expected to be open and meet there - (DrCell and Salbytec + anyone else who wants to sit in on a lunch with us).

Adios,

Tom & Alicia :wizard:

captaincrash-

We usually board, grab a little lunch (okay, hubby hits the shrimp full on), make our Palo (and sometimes spa) ressies, and then head to the pool. I'm so excited that we were able to pre-book Palo...that's one less thing to think about during the boarding rush.

We've been to several onboard DIS meets and the Promenade Lounge is a pretty good place, since there is plenty of seating (and for those who are interested....a bar :drinking1).

Ginny

I guess I'll have to save room after my shrimp for an after-lunch Gold Rita!!! LOL :cool1:

Happy Sunday to all! :Pinkbounc Just wondering.........to anyone that has/had a GUAR status.......have you been assigned a stateroom yet?

Also.......show of hands..........who is bringing a door cabin sign? I have mine from last year but want to make one for this one.

Pardon our lack of familiarity....

.... a door sign? I understand doorsigns for celebrations (anniversery or birthday) - and such. SOmetinmes we've noted things like that but as I recall we had assumed a group was celebrating a birthday or something similar and probably their friends and/or family were decorating their door. RU suggesting a door sign to share message/idea(s)/DIS.... ?

I must seem like I'm from another planet....

:confused3

OOps........forgot the message to the above post link. :flower: Crash settle in if you're going to read...........its a LONG thread. Last year when we sailed, having a door sign made it very easy to find our cabin, esp DD.

Lisa...

.... ah-haaa.... now I can see what the door sign is. Now we're going to come up with a door sign too! It's a wonderful idea! I think we might do something with a digital photo blown up from COstco - since I have so many photos in inventory (35,000 since the brith of our 1st daughter ~ and about 1500 DCL pix too)!

I think most signs were magnetic - so I guess I'll have to find out where to get that sort of magentic material. I have not read the whole SIGN thread - but I sort of skimmed slowly through the first and last few pages. Really quite interesting and encouraging. I'm sure everything I need to know is in there.

Today we're settleing down to our hotel reservations. We land on Thursday at 3PM and we were considering a visit to DW or US. It seems we'll just leave the plan as having "no plans" at this time. IE, my spouse suggested we should play it by ear and just sort of relax on arrival and concentrate on trying to adjust the kids to the eastern time zone. We actually will start the time shift a day or two BEFORE we leave - and as such we're gonna try and rest and do some light shopping perhaps (that last part always draws a smile from my DS!).

So - we're just getting around to booking our hotels now. Just about everything else is settled! Hotwire has some deals for "resort condos" by US/SW for under $60. The $99 Swan and Dolphin deals from Dreams unlimited seem to be sold out on the dates we need them. Anyone ever try a Condo rental on a daily basis near Universal studios? Its' rated as 3.5 stars and described as a "distintive resort"....

Thanks LISA for the insiteful DOORSIGN reference.
:wave2:

We are bringing a door sign!!
I didn't make it yet though. The DH said to use the one from April but it has the wonder on it! :rotfl:

Say...

... can I ask - do we HAVE to make it a magnetic sign? It would be a lot easier to make something and just sort of tape it on - magnetic material - I am not certain WHERE to get it (without reading the long listing that Lisa gave us to find the info - assuming it's in there!)?

I might have a clear plastic sheet OVER my sign and then tape it to the door with my sign underneath.

What do you think?

Regards,

Tom & Alicia ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo
