September 29,2013 - DVC Member Cruise

I was really looking forward to meeting everyone and hope those of you that changed your plans will stay on the thread regardless.

Thanks JIM
.....Thinking about booking one week later on Oct 6th cruise. We could not have cruised in the month Sept. anyway, Kathys work cut out all Sept vacations. Got to move our Sept 15 cruise.

Hey Don,

Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving! Let us know if you are doing WDW before the Oct. 6 cruise because we will be in the World after this one.

Funny how life can be. Your trying to get the jump on the Member Cruise and it ends up falling in our lap. Really unexpected.

The chartering of the cruise would not have made me not book with DCL again but the way they handled it would have. I am not kidding. The guy who called me from Karl Holtz office saved them a passenger. If it were not for his kindness and his explanation, the wedding cruise would have been my last with them.

Alan,
That's a big statement! I know how much you enjoy Disney cruising. Perhaps I would be talking differently had I been in your shoes.

We really do enjoy it. I am glad that it was basically worked out. I did explain to them if they would haven just said why, this could have all been averted. Also I saw someone post they don't charter the Fantasy. I am willing to bet it can happen to anyone at anytime. Look at the last time the Magic was in the Med. that was a mess. So if some big rich person or company wants to charter the Fantasy, you can bet DCL will do it.

Poison Ivy Aladdin and Jasmine have not flown on the carpet for a while now due to a malfunction over a year ago I believe. Not seeing the show I don't know what they are doing, I just know they are not flying. To the others, I really think DCL lost some good will with this situation.

wow! thank goodness I brought this up!! Right after I read your post I did a quick google search to see what the malfunction was. Wasn't expecting what I saw on youtube!!! I don't know how I missed the news on this. It happened Sept 2011.

anyway thanks for letting me know. Without the magic carpet scene, this show is now off their must do list! She's debating on whether DCA is worth the effort with two young kids. I don't think my grandson is old enough for cars land. He's not even 2.

I don't understand it either. What really was a surprise was that you personally out of anyone had to go through this despite having a contact over there.

I do like the fact that they added the 200 obc to an existing one, rather than replace one over the other.

But as I stated before, I did not like the fact that you had what I would consider a minor price differential applied rather than waived given the circumstances. In your case though, since you are planning to reshop everything I can understand where you were coming from. (any idea when they typically release CM offers for the fall?)

I hope you stick around here anyway. It's a big tent!!!!

You can share that panama canal trip and any DL holiday treks you have planned. Love that place!!! By the way, my daughter is planning to take the kids - son age 1 1/2 and daughter 3 for their first time very soon. She keeps telling me she wants to take them to both parks. Aladdin and Cars Land are on her california adventure must do list. I told her I thought aladdin was closing and that cars land may be too popular to visit easily right now with toddlers. Any advise you can share would be more than welcome.

Cars land is awesome by the kids need to be 40 inches for the racers. So maybe the 3yr old. Still a nice feel to walk down. We've been twice since August (I live in N. CA) and the racers broke both times we were in line, the average wait is 90+ min, a CM said since its new its down 60% of the time while they work through the bugs. But for the littles, playhouse Disney and turtle talk. I saw the other post and clearly I haven't seen Aladdin in year cause I didn't know they stopped flying on the carpet. But I'm sure they would still enjoy the show. My kids are 3 and 8 and they like DCA and DL, I am not a believer in scheduling every second when you have the kids, the burn out, I'll get frustrated. We just go with the flow. It's definitely worth going durning off season and during the week, best bang for the buck.

Yes - Alan - stick around. We love your info/input. We'd miss you if you were totally gone.

Alan...just booked AKL for May. Changed our reservations from ASMo as you got me all excited about AKL! As we used all our points instead of the cruise now I had to rent the points. We are staying at the village part.

Have a good trip. I always book Jambo as there is quick service there and not at Kadani. I do live the pool area over there. The slide is great for a resort pool. Way better than Jambo. Poison Ivy, all I will say about DCA is I used to find it a place to kill time, now I love to go there after its makeover. It's a great park. I will stick around, I am really curious about others as to what they will be doing now.

thanks so much for this. Sounds like there will be some really great alternatives to enjoy. So the plan was to get there before my granddaughter actually turns three early Jan. This way both kids were free. But they keep putting it off and they're running out of time plus it's now into the holiday season.

So all I can do is emphasize the need for an overnight stay vs a daytrip. I really hope they pull this off early Dec. I hope they either parkhop or upgrade to a two day pass. I'll share some of the tips here with them.

I'm with alan on this. We prefer Jambo House for the much the same reasons. We really love Jambo's lobby and that the quick service marketplace - Mara is right off the pool area. How many days are you staying?

We are staying 10 days. They had no accessible rooms left at Jambo house so we had to go for the village instead but I am sure we will have a nice time anyway. Love the idea of the underground car park!

Yes! They do have that garage right next to the building! I'm sure once you get situated you will settle in fine. You can always scoot back and forth to Jambo. There's a sidewalk path which is pretty easy to follow.

Sanaa is one of our favorite restaurants. I love the roasted cauliflower appetizer. (it may only be a lunch item though)

Thanks! Sounds ideal. Very excited!

Yes that parking right underneath the building at Kadani is a very attractive feature, but alas we never rent a car in FL so it's not that attractive for us.

No I can see without a car that would not be a plus! Do you find the buses good from AKV?

I have no problem with the busses. Sometimes you have to wait for them but hey you have to wait in line for the rides too so no biggie to me

Yes thats good to know. Even though we rent a car we still love the Disney transport system. We use it a lot to get around from SSR. Saves DW having to drive all the time plus it can be easier than trying to find parking! Dont mind a wait :-) we are on vacation!

Christine and I love the AKV. The Jambo lobby is amazing and club level is quite a bonus when we can do it. Make sure you try the Tandoori shrimp at Sanaa...awesome!

Right now, I can't wait till we leave for our 4 day stay at the Yacht Club on Dec. 10th. While we are there we can catch the brand new Fantasy Land and Test Track. Poison Ivy will be in seminars each day (too bad for her), while I lounge and feast on whatever I please!... Someone has to do it!

Has anyone dined at the Biergarten in Germany? If so please give us your review, We are trying it as the Candlelight package.
