September 29, 2012 - Ropin' Some Magic in the Western Caribbean

Hi there, brand new to this, and our first cruise. I was doing some research on the cruise and came across this fish extender... with more research I found this post. I would like to add us, but that is a LOT of posts to go thru... anyone willing to give a short version on how to sign up/what to do?

Leaving the men at home and having a girls vacation...

my mom Theresa will turn 49 on September 30
I'm 29
and my daughter Adriana will turn 6 on September 24, right before we leave :)

any help/guidance would be greatly welcomed! Thank you!

Welcome! This is our first cruise as well and I just recently learned about FE. Basically, put your name on this list - on the bottom

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Au04YNSwAgnodGlZb3Q3UkpYZVlxYkJ1SEV2Wjc4YVE#gid=0

Piper is the one organizing it and she is doing an AWESOME job! I think it closes on Aug 1. There aren't any new people in group 4, but Im sure Piper will add you to a different group so you're not all alone ;)

We are also trying to get together the first day of the cruise - we have an image on the first post (again, Piper can email it to you if you'd like) and some of us are putting the image on red shirts - to help recognize each other.

We also are getting bracelets - see the spread sheet and you can enter your info if you'd like to get some. I *think* they are $4 each.

As for FE, I recently had one made from a seller on etsy. I cant sew worth a --- so I didn't even attempt! lol. You will give "something" to everyone in your group (again, see the spreadsheet) and they will give to you at some point in your cruise. All goodies/candy/handmade items/etc are to be put in each others fish extenders.

Hope this helps. Again, I am also new so please, someone, correct me if Im mistaken about anything!

kpaulson, welcome to our group! You are very welcome to join our FE group. If you want to get your post count up to 10 (so you can PM and post pictures,) feel free to post here.

Are the FE gifts supposed to be annonymous or can we say who they are from? I just finished my FE...I'm so excited!!

Welcome to the group!! :wave2:

If you google Fish extenders images you will see a lot of examples! There are some really cute ones out there! You can also see some of the things people put in them. I had never heard of them before I got on this thread so I googled them and found all sorts of links to Dis threads about them.
But be sure to add your name to the list...I think somone reposted the link for you already. That way you will see what group you are in.

I received a private message but can't reply until I get 10 posts. To the sender, I am so happy to hear that there will be another 7 year old girl on board. We are so excited. This is our first cruise.

To Piper - we communicated earlier in the year and I showed interest in the FE exchange. I want to be on the list and I will get my posts up to 10 within the next day. As soon as I do, I will message you for more info. I hope I made the deadline!!!!

Thank you all for the quick run down :) I added our names to the bottom (I think) and will work on getting 10 posts ASAP :) (sorry if I become really annoying during this time!)

Lot of people from Texas, feeling kinda out of place being so far up north in Wisconsin :P

Kelly, Just think of it this way: You'll offer people a different perspective and have other topics of conversation than the extreme heat we've experienced this summer!

If there is one thing that I have found out about the people of Texas, it's that most people in Houston are not from Texas originally. I have lived here 20 years and a majority of my friends are from other places. You will fit in just fine.

We have had really hot weather here (for Wisconsin anyways :)), and drought conditions since May :( Been horrible...I lived in the Killeen/Fort Hood area a decade ago for about a year, so I'm not too unfamiliar with Texas :)

Go ahead, get the party started! :woohoo:

Here I tell you I can talk with little effort and then I go silent! I've had normal stressful work stuff going on and planning to leave tomorrow to celebrate my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. It is only a small family dinner (as my Dad preferred), but I'm trying to make it special with the small wedding cake, flowers, Mom's china, and little things. We are meeting at my brother's house in Austin so the planning is just a bit more complicated.

Welcome to the new folks :wave2: This is going to be a great trip. :cool1:

Anyway, back to our cruise!!! How about a few trivia questions?

1. What is the first known mention of Hidden Mickey’s in print?
2. Which shipyard built the Disney Magic and in what year?
3. How many cast and crew members are aboard the Magic?

If you lived in Killeen / Fort Hood for a year I'm pretty sure you are eligible for a Texas visa

I'm sorry to hear about your draught conditions. We had a bad time last year so we are hard pressed to complain about rain this year even when we have a more than the streets can hold.

Welcome to the cruise :)

It happens, our payback for an extremely warm winter :) Your party sounds like a good time...we are going out of town for a few days for a mini family vacation...then my husband is going to Sturgis next weekend (fair tradeoff us going on a cruise IMO!) so hopefully I made the deadline as we won't be back until after August 1 :(

Please don't worry. You are definitely on a list! If we don't get more people in group 4, you will be placed in group 3. Just check the list when you get back.

I'm giving last call for people to sign up for the FE.......4 more days.

I love swagbucks. I use it to search for info and use the points to get Amazon gift cards! http://www.swagbucks.com/?cmd=home

1. The first published sighting of a Hidden Mickey was made by Arlen Miller. Arlen wrote an article back in 1989 on Hidden Mickeys for WDW's Eyes and Ears (Cast Member weekly publication) in the parks. This was the first time it was made publically known and then months later the author was contacted by Disney News for more infomation for an article on Hidden Mickeys.

2. Fincantieri shipyards in Italy, in 1998

3. 950 cast members

Welcome to the cruise :)

You are so right. Every time it rains this summer, I remind myself what last year was like!

You know your Disney :) I thought watching Tangled 5,000 times classified me as knowledgeable but I guess not :P
