September 29, 2012 - Ropin' Some Magic in the Western Caribbean

Morning all! I'm much happier thinking about ya'll and our upcoming cruise than working. It always seems the 60 day countdown to vacation parallels a stress ramp up at work.

Has it seemed a little slow on the thread the last few days? :rolleyes1 While I can talk/write enough to do it, I don't want to fill up whole pages on my own :bitelip:. I think we should keep the thread near the top of the board for those last minute folks to find us. Isn't August 1 the cutoff to join the FE?

Let me know if you would like me to get the conversation started :goodvibes The problem is getting me to stop. ::yes::

Cheryl--I'm not sure you are on the right group. Our group is sailing on the Magic to the Caribbean on Sept. 29th. We aren't going to Alaska.

I have started sewing on the gifts for the younger ones on our cruise. I am using pieces of Disney fabric that is left over from Big Give sewing on the Disboutiquers thread. It looks like I need to make 20 of this item, so I'm starting now!

Im so curious - I wanna know what you're making!! :rotfl:

Well, I will tell you that it is something that I made for the children in my class when I taught. They loved it and it helped me in many ways. It helped in organization, teaching colors and we played a game called "What's missing" using it.

Did that make you more curious (insert evil laugh):cool1:

I would be very interested in the cruise that had the itinerary that went from the Caribbean to Alaska. :)

Do we have an itinerary for our cruise? Some sort of list as to what days we will be enjoying what (pirate night, etc)?

We had a post a little while back with helpful information http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=45492322&postcount=354 The post includes a movie schedule. :3dglasses Very cool

Here is what I understand from earlier posts and my one call to DCL:
1st day: FE Group Meet? - Dinner Casual
2nd day: Sea Day - Dinner Formal
3rd day: Sea Day - Dinner Casual
4th day: Grand Cayman - Pirate party - Fireworks!pixiedust:
5th day: Costa Maya - Dinner Casual
6th day: Cozumel Dinner Semi-Formal
7th day: Sea Day - Dinner Casual
(Last night has to be casual so many of us are being dragged from the dining room back to our cabins beause we don't want to leave :sad2:

What about the Character breakfast? I was wondering what morning it would be. We have an early excursion the morning we are in Cozumel and I don't want to miss our character breakfast.

I've heard various things about when it is...the day after your first meal at Animator's Palate was one of them, but we won't know our meal schedule until we get on the ship.

This is what the Passporter says:

It says if your dining rotation starts in Animator's Palate, your character breakfast will probably be Sunday morning. Lumiere's - Monday, Parrot Cay - Thursday

It also says that if you have all adults in your stateroom your rotation will probably be: day 1 - Lumiere's, day 2 - Animator's Palate, day 3 - Parrot Cay
Young kids - day 1 - Animator's Palate, day 2 - Parrot Cay, day 3 - Lumiere's
Older kids - day 1 - Parrot Cay, day 2 - Lumiere's, day 3 - Animator's Palate
(Thanks Soccermom1422 for the Passporter info! :) )

If this is correct, then if our dining rotation starts at Parrot Cay then our charcter breakfast will be the morning of our excursion in Cozumel. What I'm not sure about is what Disney considers young and older kids. :confused3 My DD is 9 and my DS is 14, but we are traveling with friends who have a 3 yr old and a 5 yr. old. Our dining reservations are linked so I hope that, if the passporter is right, that they go by the younger kids in our group.

This is the one thing I'm really worried about. :worried:

I have no clue, wish I could help. I think it's neat that the children are "grouped" together based on age.

The earlier post on this thread had the same comment about the character breakfast being scheduled for the morning after you eat in the Animator's Palace. I want to take my grandsons to the character breakfast, but I want to go, too! :goodvibes

You don't want the breakfast on Cozumel day, and I don't want it on Grand Cayman day ;)
:)

I have an unrelated question.

Is anyone here going to the Gideon convention at the San Luis on the 28th & 29th? My sister said that someone mentioned that someone other than her was sailing on the 29th. Nancy didn't ask who or which ship they were sailing on. She just assumed it was Disney.

I'm too curious not to try to find out!!

I finally figured out our FE gifts but am having trouble with the little boys, 3-8 yrs old. Funny thing is, I have an 8 yr old boy of my own! His suggestion is candy, of course. I hope I can think of something more creative than that.

My biggest problem was the older men! lol

I believe the Magic and Carnival Triumph are the only two ships leaving Galveston on the 29th.

Hi there, brand new to this, and our first cruise. I was doing some research on the cruise and came across this fish extender... with more research I found this post. I would like to add us, but that is a LOT of posts to go thru... anyone willing to give a short version on how to sign up/what to do?

Leaving the men at home and having a girls vacation...

my mom Theresa will turn 49 on September 30
I'm 29
and my daughter Adriana will turn 6 on September 24, right before we leave :)

any help/guidance would be greatly welcomed! Thank you!
