September 29, 2012 - Ropin' Some Magic in the Western Caribbean

Since no one has designed a shirt, what do you think about this for an iron-on. You can get two images per transfer page. You won't hurt my feelings if people don't want to do this or if someone comes up with another image for us to use. I just used the image at the beginning of theis thread.

If you do want to do this, I can email you the file. I think I will do ours on a red t-shirt. They are easy to find in every size!

Hi Piper,

This would be great! Please e-mail: diannalally@hawaiiantel.net

:yay:

We are booked on this cruise!

Spouse: Mike
Me: Dianna
Daughter: Malia

We looked at Galveston a few years ago, but itinerary did not work for us. We are long time cruisers and have been on all different lines (RCL, Carnival, NCL, Celebrity etc...) but really enjoyed our first DCL last year.

Looking forward to a vacation!!

Poluwaifam, Mike, Dianna and Malia

It is great to be travelling with people that live so close!!

Yes, and I see Texas Lady is in Katy, so we are close. I see you have a four year old. One of my two grandsons joining us for the cruise is turning four a month before we leave. Are you planning on taking your daugher to the Oceaneer Club while on board?

Hi, Piper! I hope you are feeling better today.

I'd like all three of our cabins to participate in FE separately. My DS's & DIL's do not have screen names (yet? :-)) so I listed all three cabins with my screen name, but I wanted to make sure I did not confuse the list somehow. We'll participate and bring three different FE gifts for the group we are in.

These look great Piper. Can you email me the file? TxTricia_2000@yahoo.com

Can't wait to meet everyone on board. Anyone else coming from the greater Austin area?

I am new to disucssion boards and the group, thank you so much for reporting the link to the spreadsheet! :> Will we all be getting together at a certain time on the cruise?

We are neighbors! I am in Katy, and as soon as we saw a Dinsey cruise out of Galveston, just had to do it... I like that fact we dont have to drive 2 days to PC, this is our second cruise with disney!!

I am in Katy, too. I live at Mason and Franz.

Hi! We want to be a part of the fun. We are cruising with Belle6000. I have added our names to the spreadsheet.

Our party includes:
Dad, Jerry
Mom, Peggy
Bridget, darling daughter who celebrates her birthday on Oct 27

:yay:

Welcome to all our new members. If you don't have the tshirt graphic and want it, please PM me or post here. I think I have sent it to everyone, but may have missed some.

If you don't know your cabin number yet, please indicate GTY on the sheet.

I need help with setting a time and place for our dismeet -- I haven't sailed the Magic and don't know the first day schedule or places available for meetings. What is a good time? I don't want to get it too close to the first dinner, but don't want to cut into everyone's time to get settled in and the sail away party. Is there somewhere we can meet to be together for that party (or is that a really bad idea?) From looking at the deck plans, Diversions is the only place I can come up with at the moment. :confused3

Anyone else from the DFW area?

We are also homeschoolers. We are going with some other homeschool friends, and I was wondering if there were any other homeschoolers that would be on board since it is in the middle of the school year. Gotta love homeschool field trips!!

Hi Piper,

I think Diversion will be fine :yay: Perhaps between 7:45 pm and 8 pm? In between early and late seatings? First seating is 5:45, 2nd seating is 8:15....

On our first Disney Cruise, we were fortunate that the cruise had been long established (Mexican Riviera from Los Angeles). So, we knew exactly what would be going on from posting of prior Personal Navigators.

Some info I found helpful for our first cruise:

Many Guests also like to bring along an item such as a pillowcase, photo mat, t-shirt, of Vinylmation to have signed by the characters. Each stateroom is allowed to turn in two items to Guest Services. Just be sure to include markers, a few pieces of candy for the characters and label the outside of the plastic bag with your last name and stateroom number. Your items will be delivered by the last night of the crui On other Dis posts, there is mention of providing a small token to the staff signing the matting, sweet or salty. One post mentioned bringing a gallon size ziplock bag of Hershy's (the poster lived in Hershy PA). Perhaps I'll bring some Hurricane Popcorn (popcorn with seaweed, a specialty of Hawaii).

We learned that the dining room we were assigned to each evening was printed on our card (we rotate, but our headwaiter, waiter, assistant etc... rotate with us).

Hubby found some of the food bland at times, so we will be packing some siracha, tapatio etc... to bring with us. When we asked the waiter, I think all that was available was Tobasco.

Character Breakfast - There is a character breakfast on the 7 day and longer cruises only. This is held the morning of the first sea day after you dine in AP [Animator's Palate]. Early seating is at 8:00/8:15 and late seating is at 9:30. The CB lasts an hour.

Per reservations at DCL, the following movies will be in rotation during our week:

Toy Story in 3D
Tangled in 3D
The Muppets
John Carter
Chimpanzee
Reel Steel
People Like Us
The Avengers
Brave
The Odd Life of Timothy Green (premiering 08.15.12, so good chance it will be on board).

I think I'm going to pack the 3D glasses from the theater at home, as they are more comfortable than the ones we used aboard the Wonder last year.

Dining:

1st night: Casual
2nd night: Formal
3rd night: Casual
4th night: Pirate
5th night: Casual
6th night: Semi-Formal
7th night: Casual

Pirate night is awesome - deck party is not to be missed - this is when the fireworks are.... lots and lots of fun!

Our waiter gave us valuable information about what was occurring the next day, so we will try hard to not miss dinner this cruise :).

The shows are great, and again, we will try hard not to miss. Last year there was a comedian with puppets. My daughter still imitates "Romeo" with his "attitude".

Princess Tea was a lot of fun, we almost missed it - somehow I need to keep better track of the schedule when on board... from MOM's panel: Alice and Mad Hatter Tea Party has been replaced with Tea with your Disney Friends. This tea is offered only on cruises that are 7 nights or longer in duration. You will not be able to sign up for it before your sailing. Please keep an eye out for it in your Personal Navigator. The Personal Navigator is Disney Cruise Line's daily newsletter which is delivered to your stateroom every evening. It lists all of the activities that are scheduled for the following day.

May try to do something different with signature book this time around, as we have one from Disney World, Disney Land and the Wonder. Does anyone have ideas?

Anyone with any additional information, if it can be shared that would be great!

Aloha!

Thanks for the above info! We will be bringing a pillow case to have the characters sign, but I didnt think about bringing a snack for them. Im not sure what else I will be bringing to have them sign - I am thinking a signature/photo book.

What about the Promanade lounge on Deck 3? If we met early I think it would be empty. I think there's music there later at night.

Would everyone be on board by 3pm? I don't remember when the last check in time is. I think the safety thing is around 4:00. Then, the sail away party, I think. It's been a while since we were on a cruise so I don't remember exactly when everything takes place. We were on the Wonder last time, but I think the Magic is pretty much the same. We could also try to meet around 7:00...I think that would be in between the dining seatings.

The sail away party is pretty crowded...it might be hard to try to meet up during that.

We're bringing a photo mat to be signed and pillow cases for the little guys.

Hi! Yes, we really like being so close to Galveston for crusing. Now that Disney is in town we hope to have more opportunity to cruise with the family.

I've been reading through all the information on the different threads. Did you also participate in FE on your first cruise? I thought I might have seen other posts from you regarding an earlier cruise.

Promanade Lounge at 3pm works for me. Anyone else have any ideas or is this "doable" for everyone?
